My aunt payed 300$ for a Chromebook, and the lady pulled out a acer. When I opened it I thought: "hey this is a heavy Chromebook" pulled it out and uncovered it to see a whole acer nitro 5 with a rtx 3050 i5 12th gen 512gb of SSD storage and 8 GB of ddr5

It’s a shitty kind of gaming laptop, but way better than a Chromebook

A few years ago I did my research before buying an Acer Nitro 5 gaming laptop. Despite there being many youtube videos at the time about getting hot and shutting down I still purchased one. Straight out of the box I ran an extensive stress test and sure enough it did what I had previously found out. I will suggest you stress the laptop enough to make sure it will last you in the long run and remember to always clean the fan and heat sink at least a couple of times a year (heat is the major killer of laptops GPU and VRAM). Enjoy your new laptop and congrats on the savings you luckily had.

  4. Nice! Sounds like you owe your aunt a Chromebook.

    Me: Auntie, I’ll fix this.
<Buys her a new Chromebook and keeps the Acer> Win-win.

Ah good old acer nitro… I had 3, one with a 1650 that died without reason, one day I turned it off and the next day didn’t want to turn on, the store changed it for another and like a month after the laptop would shut itself off (no overheating, no nothing, even idle would do it) So they changed it again for a AMD variant and it died again… I was even embarrassed to go again to the store, the manager told me “don’t worry we have had problems with this model, can I change it for another laptop instead?” At the end I walked out with a desktop PC for gaming and a samsung galaxy tab S8 ultra to take it to school and work. No more “gaming laptops” for me, they are underpower, expensive as compared to a desktop equivalent and not that upgradable.. I learned my lesson…

But if I had a new one technically for free I would still be happy hahahahaha
