Its caching the website. So you don’t have all content stays.
You can reload the tabs and it will go down a lot.

Edge is chrome, ask google.

It doesn’t require it. It uses it for caching because it can since you have so much memory free. This is nothing to be angry or concerned about. It boggles my mind that people still actually care about this.

Some websites are poorly designed and continually push more and more data to the browser. Over time, the memory usage of tabs with these sites loaded just climbs and climbs.
Reloading the tab should reset that memory usage.
YouTube and Reddit are the worst culprits for this out of all the sites I regularly visit.

It’s not Edge that’s misusing your memory, it’s the pages you’re on that’s the problems.
Whatever you’re viewing on r/popular is loaded with a lot of large file size content. Probably a lot of high quality, oversized images that never got compressed or resized before upload.
And you have another tab likely with a video that’s being loaded onto the memory.
Why do these things get loaded to memory and not the page file? Because your system needs RANDOM ACCESS to that MEMORY (hence why it’s called RAM) where it’ll be able to call and update on demand. RAM operates faster than most of your other hardware.
The better question is, why are you visiting pages that are unoptimized and utilizing massive amounts of data/bandwidth?

You still have 47% memory so what’s the issue? RAM is meant to be used.
