We really DO NOT need higher power chips right now. The 7800X3D will hit the numbers 99.9% of people buy it for, I’d rather drop 20 degrees and lower power over going from 500fps to 550fps. For the average user in the 60-165hz range, the 9700X is going to hit is just fine.

The uplift is fantastic, and if the TDP can be consistently lowered, or as seen as low, in the next one to four generations with updates to the MB ecosystems it will be a must for the new form factor boards. But it does make a significant difference between not just the CPU but the parts to make one.

This will be AMD’s best CPU launch since Ryzen debuted. They cooked so good with this. I would 10000000% take lower power draws and better efficiency for the next 10 years if performance stays EXACTLY the same as it is right now. It doesnt need to get any faster. We have achieved the speeds we need. All that matters from this point on is efficiency.
