It might be assumed that they were captured along side Requiem, because it seems like you will be able to play as both the map assigned characters AND as operators.
My guess is they were taken to some other prison or were released for various reasons
Maybe just dead in prison…
Feel like we will get a throw away line in some radio or Intel about them dying in prison
My best guess is if you play as one of the “main” character you’ll get the dialogue for the Easter egg and “story” and if you play as an operator you won’t have any dialogue about the story except from the NPC your operator will probably have some normal dialogue from the versus but that’s it

I think that Richtofen may have experimented on them. The last thing we know about them prior to going to Ukraine then getting captured for Project Janus is that they made a pact with [some sort of Dark Aether demon](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=oABC6We-Deg). On top of the fact that they’ve been exposed to the Dark Aether longer than anyone else (besides maybe Samantha), they’d make prime candidates for testing. As for the end results of those experiments? I can’t say. They might be dead. They might have mutated into something else besides a human. Who knows, we’ll just have to wait and see.

Okay but seriously, I’m of the impression that Cold War strike team is either dead, a victim of Eddie in some way (test subjects or whatnot), or they could possibly be who we play as for Liberty Falls. Whatever the case, I’m curious if they get mentioned or not moving forward.
If I have to guess, the strike team probably ended up being Project Janus’ test subjects. They were exposed to Aetherium/the Dark Aether a crazy amount of times, and still remained relatively sane and capable. Richtofen would definitely love to dissect them and see what makes them tick.

Honestly the operator system feels like you are being sold action figures. If you were able to do fallout style character creation and had a custom dude that would be cool and I would care if they sold you outfits or whatever because at least you had some individual attachments to the character but honestly I don’t care that the operators died because they had no personality and most of the time people played with the dlc operators and who cares your WWE John Cena and the Rock or whatever operators died im just glad they didn’t pretend those operators were anything other than boring canon fodder brought over from multiplayer.

I wanna know who the “canon” strike team is. Because it’s obviously not weaver or rambo or anyone like that.
My personal guess is any of the operators on the NATO side that don’t show up in the campaign, like Song.
