If, in 2046, I can’t shove a lightsaber deep up my ass and watch that glow exit my oesophagus in full 16K on my retina lens, then we might as well go back to whatever shit this picture is.

  2. EconomyPrior5809

I’ve been gaming since the 80s and never once experienced this. Like, we have CG movies and effects, which are always years or decades ahead of real-time. How could anyone ever believe it can’t get better?

  3. Blacksad9999

Art direction is significantly more important than graphical fidelity.

  4. HGMIV926

Do I need to play the first one to understand / enjoy the second?

  5. EgorBurov

But if we compare graphics in movies, Lord of the rings (20 years ago) or Terminator (40 years ago) it is not so bad looking even now. So may be in 2046 we can say the same about graphics in games from 2024

  6. _NauticalPhoenix_

As we approach photo realism graphics will inevitably plateau

  7. xarchangel85x

This game is capable of looking jaw-dropping

  8. Teamskywalker14

Honestly I feel like graphics are about as good as we really need. NOW GIVE US OPTIMISED GAMES THAT ARENT 200gb AND RUN AT HIGHER THAN 30 fps WITH 20 4090s

  9. CrotasScrota84

I rather give up some of those graphics for a locked 60fps and 4K.

  10. redosabe

For fuck sakes.. nobody ever says graphics can’t get any better

I’m tired of this stupid meme

  11. TakeyaSaito

Realistic graphics do not look better. If I wanted real graphics id open a window.

  12. “iT LooKS liKE a pS3 GAmE”

Lol got so sick of hearing this just because a game didn’t look like god of war or ghost of tsushima.

Meanwhile that comment was most likely coming from kids who had never even seen a ps3 before 😂🤷‍♂️

why does that location remind me of blackwater in red dead redemption?

So the problem is no longer can we make things look better or more reallistic.

Its the cost of doing so, sure we have hardware that CAN do it, but it has a cost.

    A cost in development time.

A cost in hardware resources. Do we want 1 extra light bounce or 10 extra enemies on the field.

And a hardware cost, we have all seen the skyrocketing costs of modern hardware.

Smart Devs are better off not chasing perfection.

The only thing I’ve noticed over the last 20 years is developers are getting lazier and lazier at optimization. Quality hasn’t improved much 1440 and 4K look great sure but it’s really not much and not every one has thousands to shell out for monitors and GPUs. And you better have 70 gigs free regardless at least. I understand I just don’t see the value and size in such minute of a difference. The gaming world keeps ticking. Where’s the fkin tock?

  16. MagicBez

I remember genuinely thinking graphics couldn’t get much better (maybe one more console generation’s worth) when I first saw F-zero on the SNES

  17. jalahjava_

Honestly I can’t give half a 2 bit shit about realistic graphics in games. It’s always inferior to a good style.

  18. HeilYourself

Stop making incremental graphics upgrades for like 2 years and fix clipping.

RDR2 on a decent pc is one of the best looking games I’ve ever seen. And then Arthur’s beard clips through his chest and suddenly it looks like garbage.

  19. I feel like graphics are often now being prioritised over gameplay. Like most companies are trying to push the limits of consoles but I just want a fluid gaming experience not a visual showcase otherwise I’d just watch a film.

  20. I remember thinking that with Call of Duty 2 on Xbox 360.

  21. Affectionate_Gas_264

To be honest new games and one made ten years ago don’t look that much different

Like there’s small changes but compared to the leaps in graphics from games made in the 2000s vs games made post 2010 modern games haven’t improved much in the past decade

It’s mostly remakes with more bloom and particle effects

  22. VigilantesITA

I’m playing it these days. 😎♥️
