lol they’re saying a “source “ told them Intel will announce coverage for tray CPU’s so let’s wait and see.

Intel: “we’re extending the warranty”
also Intel: “just keep submitting RMA requests if the first is declined without cause. additionally, we’ll confiscate/destroy your CPU if we arbitrarily determine it’s fraudulent”

Not good enough 5 years, cover laptops too and start the clock on the date of the microcode fix.
Until they do this I’ll consider Intel a 100% unreliable company with deficient products that they do not trust to be stable and durable.

How do OEM and Tray cpus differ? I thought they were one in the same thing

They do this cause they know the eu will remind them about European warranty
SoSoEasy

Yeesh. Glad I built an AMD system last year. I guarantee you nobody wants to waste time, effort and money trying to MAYBE get proper compensation from a company being damaged by some bean counter fuckup playing at CEO chasing quarterly profits instead of doing what AMD has been doing, like making chips at a scale smaller than 10nm.
Intel should have known better, and maybe it did but there’s no helping things when some idiot in the big chair thinks he knows more than anyone else in the room.

The title is really missing “an anonymous source told wwcftech.” because Intel hasn’t said anything yet. ALSO, it’s clear they’re doing whatever they can *quick*, to avoid a recall.
This needs to end in a complete recall, and if it isn’t by Intel’s will, it’ll be by the class action lawsuit quickly mounting.

The PR management around this issue might be more damaging than the actual technical problem. These Intel people are in way over their heads and have no idea how to handle this.

It took them long enough after rejecting RMAs.

Sweet. Can’t wait to replace my faulty CPU with another faulty CPU. Get fucked

Anything about laptops yet? 13900hx here, which is basically a mobilized desktop 13th gen.

Extension means nothing if burden of proof of an issue is on the user when the issues are near impossible for the user to troubleshoot and confirm all while the actual process of warranty is a shitshow.
This is nothing but a glorified PR statement. Scum.

So the thing about this is OEM/Manufacturers can just tell people to send in their laptop for repairs but still charge for them- and then they themselves will go thru the warranty with Intel and get reimbursed- essentially double dipping.

Instead of offering refunds I guess
