The types of gamers who play this fine work of art.

still remember playing rigs of rod forever ago almost 20 years ago ;_; they came a LONG way

The trailer/ chair explosion makes me giggle!

Gta online, specifically tow trucks. Back in the day there were hilarious desync issues with them, at some point R* patched that out. 🙁

Currently its rimworld and dwarf fortress for me, anything is possible in these games and its always fun to try new stuff.

Hand Simulator, I will wreck anyone’s shit in that game.

BeamNG is one of my favorite pieces of software ever created, I’ve wasted so many hours doing shit just like that.

I love testing the limits of the physics in a lot of games, RDR2 with mods is another. Love seeing how far different NPCs can fall before they die (different ones have different health believe it or not), love making them fight one another, love seeing how they react to random animals being spawned.

Fun fact, Charles from the gang is practically unbeatable in hand-to-hand combat when spawned in. He takes over 100 punches to knock out, and he can even take multiple improved arrows to the face. He can fall from 100ft or so and survive. Firearms seem to damage him normally.

OMG the amount of pointless stuff I’ve done in BeamNG.drive is crazy compared to how I normally play games

Factorio, you spend a lot of time in designing your base and little in actually building, but once every is set up and materials start flowing it’s great.

same with Minecraft with mods related to automation and industrializing

  9. mrjackpot440

yeaaahhhh i wasted +100 hours easily on beamng

The log truck trailers you can do this as well. Get myself a road train going and hit some ramps and watch as it all just floats through the air only to destroy itself on landing. Lots of hours killed in this forever alpha game.

This is also it for me mate, and maybe Automation once a while, but nothing really beats BeamNG

Not really sure if this counts but for me it was modding Skyrim, I would download some random mod just to see the effects just for the heck of it and at some point it got degenerate enough that i also normally looked at mods at LoverLab and test them out, and depending on the mod it could just take a few seconds to set it up or hours depending if i need additional mods to make that 1 mod work.

I mean, it’s not PC only, but I’ve been really into Teardown lately.

Nice destruction simulator game where you can do whatever the hell you want. Unlike BeamNG where it focuses mainly on vehicle destruction, Teardown focuses more on environmental and building destruction. There’s also mod support, so… possibilities are basically endless.

This 3 games are my “lets see what shit can i build or weird stuff to do”: Space Engineers, Stormworks and Arma 3 map creator.

Yes, games with some degree of a “physics” engine is a nice place for people like us.

  15. Various-Artist

The beamng community is really something else

  16. Jabba_the_Putt

fun video, this “game” looks great! picking this up for sure

  17. lynch1986

Gary’s Mod is kinda the OG of pissing about.

  18. Playful_Pollution846

    Teardown

Their voxel based destruction is so much fun it feels like I’m in a Micheal Bay Movie

  19. doggodoge225

Fish game, placid plastic duck simulator, Wobble dogs, Fallout 4 (making settlements to house 50 settlers)

  20. Besieged.

Holy shit, dudes were creating fucking functional air ships in that game. It was unreal.

  21. Friendly_Cantal0upe

I was going to say BeamNG then realised I was watching BeamNG

Mechwarrior 5. You’ll spend hours upon hours making and remaking the same battlemech, just so you can come up with new and innovative ways to blow up enemies and commit war crimes.

In my particular case, I have 6 different variants of the same model mech all with different loadouts to fit whatever mood I’m in. I still redo them constantly because I can’t just be happy with “it works good enough”. “No…. That other mech got off two shots at me that time before being vaporized instead of one, this build is garbage, I have to do it over.”

In fact, just typing this comment already has me noodling about what I might want to try with one of those variants.

Whats that game that has looks like totally accurate battle simulator but with different monster creatures and dinosaurs and humans lol, that was fun to watch just seeing them get paired against each other and doing stupid challenges or fighting in a building but because the game is a physics type game the building slowly starts collapsing as they fight so it makes it oddly fun to watch.

Edit: found the game lol, it’s animal revolt battle simulator

  24. MrOMGItzDakota

Overwatch has me wasting hours (and dollars) on a pointless game, but I still have fun playing it.

  25. Now if they add pedestrians and other cars, then you know you fulfilled your inner psycho.

  26. Sinsanatis

Sorta fits, but this reminded me of besiege. Which just got a nice update and dlc recently btw. Super cool medieval contraption building game where u build a vehicle or contraption to try to beat the level. Or just dick around in sandbox. God the things ppl have made in that game is insane.

  27. JamesMCC17

Hitman WOA by far. You can do so many creative things that have nothing to do with the missions. Create ASCII art with all the dead bodies, pile up 30 knocked out people then explode the whole lot. It’s endless hours of creative stupidity.

  28. Justin_Anville

It’s not pointless if you are having fun.

For me it’s single player escape from tarkov, and I let my stash turn into a total shit show and I’ll spend literally hours sorting my hideout and organizing things to perfection. I spend more time in my hideout being ocd then actually playing raids.

If only the beam boys would let us save the train configs 🥺
