PS/2 is awesome and in my opinion should be present on all motherboards as a fail safe for when USB doesn’t work.

My 2 PC builds NONE have these ports so they are indeed dead. You can find them in some PC office towers that haven’t been updated in a decade.
Mine was switched by a laptop(from work) which doesn’t use these anymore.

My AM5 mobo has these, but i can’t find a keyboard or mouse to use them.

PS2 is used in server environments with USB disabled as that disallows someone attempting to plug in a USB device to either copy data OR attempt to load some nefarious malware (and similar).
Additionally, PS2 is interrupt driven, whereas USB is poll driven. This means when activity occurs on PS2 it is like your Uncle Bobby that is raging drunk and half naked at Xmas dinner – you cannot avoid or not hear what he’s yabbering on about, no matter how much you try to ignore the guy.
While when USB activity occurs, you’re waiting for the chipset to get around to your USB controller, then will listen, and once that bit of activity is finished, it moves onto the next in the polling lineup. So, it’s a matter of “wait your turn.”
