So i ordered basically all parts from amazon and all components are arriving in separate days.But yesterday the cpu and motherboard arrived and when i opened the box the seal on cpu box is broken and the cpu with the plastic case is gone. I assume it was stolen during warehouse process and the motherboard box is ok and the outside amazon box is unopened too. When i contacted the support they asked me to file a complaint to police and they will continue with refund process. Is it commonly happening thing or just me being unlucky. This js my first time ordering pc parts from amazon and this is my first custom build.

Keep pushing and ask for a supervisor. If you don’t get anywhere with it you can email jeff@amazon.com which is the “bezos office” which just means you get a higher up manager from the US instead of some people in India working for concentrix to reach back out to you. From there, just follow their steps. They may still ask you to file the police report. Do it, then give them what they need.
This isn’t uncommon though sadly no. Amazon sucks.
Imagine getting robbed and the thief tells you to file a police report. You should probably have another chat with Amazon support, they sent you an empty box.
I ordered a 5900x on prime day. I was given a plain black box that was completely empty. Contacted support and they shipped me another one right away.

Had a similar issue several years ago with Amazon UK/Ireland , CPU taken but cooler left in the box. Replaced no issue at the time .

No one stole from you. You have not received the goods you ordered. If you report a theft it’s Amazons ripping you off. There is no police involvement here, except if the shipper wishes to contact them about it. For you to contact the police would be wasting police time.

At this point you as a buyer need to video yourself opening the box for the first time from the door in order to prove yourself to be innocent insanity yet the seller or the delivery get away freely
I always record package opening process of whatever i bought online, to avoid issues like “thing you sent is broken” seller: nah, user caused a damage
The amount of issues I’ve seen with Amazon components, even if its significantly cheaper I always avoid.

I order many things on amazon, from gadgets to barber clippers, to black licorice, soccer balls, and anything between. I will not order Pcu, Gpu, Ram, or anything like that. I’ve seen too many in here get burned, and I’m not playing those odds.
I don’t know why people have to be shitty and ruin things for everyone.
Hello, exact same issue with Amazon told to submit a police report – provided them with an email saying police do not deal with it as the product was not delivered correctly, amazons fault. They still did not accept written evidence. The proper process is to contact your bank and ask them to complete a refund of that payment. You submit your evidence and emails from Amazon, Amazon will not reply to the banks request and will be unable to submit the requested evidence, you get your refund, Amazon have 30 days from date of charge back to argue – which they don’t. That will work for you.
The exact same thing happened to me. Amazon sent me an opened, empty 7800x3d box which came with a load of other components for my first custom build. Like you, the shipping box was untampered with. Thankfully the first rep I spoke to processed a refund straight away. Made the mistake of not checking to see it was from a 3rd party seller. This is in the U.K.
Lesson of the story, don’t trust Amazon with expensive tech, especially from 3rd party sellers. I know I never will again.

Same thing happened to me on a build I did with the 7700x. I just filed a return and Amazon gave me my money back. Crazy thing is I never buy pc parts from 3rd party sellers, I always buy shipped and sold by Amazon. I buy my CPU’s from Best Buy now even though I have to pay a bit more.

Been ordering on Amazon since 2011, hundreds of orders and never had anything missing, besides one time I ordered a range hood from “bosch” (amazon warehouse) and received some no name rangehood in the Bosch packaging, messaged them, got a refund and the package got picked up two days later

Pretty sure YOU should not be the one to file, since the CPU never arrived, That’s their job. In fact, filing a report might imply that you agree that Amazon actually sent you a CPU and it “arrived”. Tbf I doubt Amazon would do shady stuff like this, but it is usually better to just say “I did not get what I ordered – you are the seller so it is your job to fix that. If you need further info to do that, I’ll provide as much as I can”.
Of course, if you know that someone is targeting your area (so it is not just the typical “some Amazon employee handled it improperly”, it might make sense to file a report for that (but that doesn’t really change that your purchase never arrived).
From what i’ve seen this is very common on amazon. Someone buying an item, taking it out and returning the box. Then amazon sells it to you as brand new, but since the product has already been taken out the second buyer only gets an empty box
Happened to me when I bought 5700X, I got an empty little gift box that a pair of earrings would go in. Amazon ended up sending me a new one after a quick phone call.
First time I ever had an issue like that with an order from Amazon too.
Call again and don’t use the term stolen. Nothing was stolen from you, you never had it to begin with, so you cannot report a theft. Just tell them you received an empty box, so have not yet received your order.
You unfortunately will probably have to wait for a refund and re-order however. They don’t usually re-ship orders.

I have never had anything quite like this but, when I do find things missing on an obviously open box I just return it. When I go through the steps it allows you to check missing pieces or something to that effect. I’ve never really had a problem.
I saw a YT video once where a guy ordered asphalt/concrete. He then drove around town filling potholes and telling people that “Amazon was paying for it”. Then he filled the empty containers with sand and returned them. According to him Amazon just checks returns with a scale and they accepted them. Maybe that explains how so many people are getting away with stealing from them and then returning empty boxes or the GPU box full of rocks that people have seen.
Whether or not this is a theft in the warehouse or a customer returning an empty box that they stole the CPU out of, I don’t know. But, this type of thing happens constantly. Amazon fucks things up all the time on their own. It’s got to the point that I’m not even sure why I still pay for the service
If nothing happens, I’d do a credit card charge back as a last resort!
So I had an issue where I had a boxed found open delivered on my porch but no PC fans inside (just the USB cable extension I had also ordered). I had to file a police report and chase a refund for weeks feeling as if for w/e reason amazon would think I’m playing them when really I wanted to get my PC back up ASAP!
Always record yourself opening high priced items, in the case of Amazon if you can get it sent to a locker, start recording before that’s even open. I know its too latehere but hopefully, this helps someone else.
Not Amazon, but I had similar thing happen between me and BestBuy doing a return of 2 sonos speakers through UPS. Long story short, speakers never arrived at their facility, so I was on the hook. No help from BB rep. After a few months of going back and forth I got my money back via chargeback.

As a former Amazon employee, they are gonna be in deep shit and found out easily if they are the one that broke the seal. Every order item is scanned by the employee that pulled it and sent it down the line. The employee that scans it also confirms there is no damage to the item, and all the contents are there before sending it on.
I ordered a psu during prime day. It was sealed but when I opened it, it was 4 2×4 stapled together in the box.
File a police report against Amazon for theft then contact support with the police report number or copy of it in a PDF. Amazon support will then process that and admit guilt in the process. Then you can sue them for it.
Its weird…here we have this OPEN BOX policy thing.
If you order anything that is remotely expensive (even a goddamn ram thats under 100$s), its an open box delivery.
The amazon delivery guy will have to open the box, verify all the contents and the customer will have to check for anything missing or broken and give OTP.
Once you give OTP, amazon won’t take it back unless its something like DOA.
If its something like a phone or laptop and if you try to turn it ON and it doesn’t, you can just refuse to give OTP imao. They would have to take it back.
