I did not expect to get an ‘aww’ out of subnautica today 🥰

That was such a unique feature from a single player game, and it’s totally underappreciated amongst the public and game devs.

For those that don’t know, Subnautica is a single player game where you crash land on a planet.

You beat the game by building a rocket ship to escape the planet.

In your escape ship, you have a small container/jettison pod where you can place a few items from your inventory, include a screenshot and a text message.

The pod is then jettisoned back down to the planet on your escape from the planet’s atmosphere.

These pods basically go back to the dev’s servers, go through a sort of filter to exclude game-breaking end-game items, and inappropriate messages from getting passed on.

Then, *other players* will be capable of finding your jettisoned pod in their game. You generally come across a couple of them in each playthrough.

It’s a *really* cool feature and I don’t think I’ve ever heard of anything similar in any other single player games.
