This literally just happened to me with a kindle. I bought a brand new one and it took a shit in like a month so i hit amazon up and they sent me a refurbished one. I contacted them again and got my new one. The way that one is acting, im pretty sure my first kindle was a refurb too.
This happens to me too.
Way to often to be by accident.
And this is why I don’t buy shit off Amazon.
Stop buying stuff from Amazon.
I know that in Germany retailers are allowed to resell returned products as new as long as they are still in mint condition. Depending on the item, I’m also ok with it. The EU gives consumers the right to return items purchased online within 2 weeks no questions asked. Even if you loose the packaging, the retailer has to accept the return and cannot deduct anything from refund. Only if the item itselfe has been damaged.
So in a marked where the margin are already very slim, retailers will of course try to sell anything for the normal retail price if they can.
This happens to me all the time with Amazon anymore. Latest was with a drill marked as New but came in with measurement scribbles inside the box where the drill was used on a project already then returned. Sent it right back.

I bought a brand new i7-8700K and when it arrived it had thermal paste on it, but was reboxed and “sealed” with scotch tape…I requested a replacement and it was taken care of pretty quick.
Amazon sent me a used motherboard with fingerprints and dust on it. Last time i order something even remotely expensive from them

I just bought a Gigabyte RTX 3060 on Prime day, and while it was “sealed” it did have some fingerprints. After intalling it, it started to have artifacts. Amazon support did their maximum effort for me to not return it and deal with Gigabyte RMA, BS. After more then 1 week that I have sent it, still no refund. Will not buy pc parts from them again.
I bought this same RAM kit and had to go back and check the packaging to make sure they didn’t get me too haha
Amazon is super easy with returns, I wouldn’t worry.
I one bought 4 monitors to check which one I would like the most, then returned 3 of em no problem
my buddy bought a radeon 7600 and it was so unbelievably used it had cigarette tar and pounds of dust stuck to it i literally have no idea how it made it too him
