So they saw the Helldivers fiasco and went “Yeah, let’s give that another try.”

  2. If I have a nickel for everytime developers of a Starship Troopers rip off game forcing players to sign up to a third party just to play the game in 2024, I would have 10 cents.

Which isn’t a lot but HOLY SHIT its weird how something so esoteric happen twice.

Can somebody explain why this keeps getting pointed out so much recently, like it’s something unique or new? Most games that originate on other storefronts require you to download separate launchers and it’s been like that for a loong time.

I don’t remember Mass Effect Trilogy getting review-bombed even though it needs you to download the EA Launcher/Origin.

Everything Ubisoft comes with UPlay. Assassin’s Creed, Anno all seem to come with it.

2K and Paradox have proprietary launchers as well (I THINK they don’t need a login, but I could be wrong).

The solution in this game’s case would seem to be to purchase the game directly at the publisher (Epic?), since Steam is the 3rd-party launcher in this equation.

I have had epic installed for plenty of things already to play with friends, it’s a non-issue for me. Even if I didn’t, I already knew it would have epic integration because of the developer post on their own website.

  6. Really difficult to make a free account in less than 15 seconds…. How could they do this to us?

I don’t know why Epic decided this. EDF 4.1 and 5 didn’t require a 3rd party launcher. Contemplating refunding since I haven’t played and lost any interest unless EDF reverses the decision.
