As the title suggests, I didn’t think I would experience the whole “Customer induced damage bullshit” from ASUS. Here’s the gist of it.
We (as in my workstations building company in Australia). Built a PC for a customer, we used an ASUS ROG X670E-I Motherboard. We put it on our test bench to update bios and do preliminary tests (standard procedure before we fully assemble systems). Initially worked then halfway through our testing it was no longer responsive. We troubleshooted via numerous avenues such as trying another CPU, RAM, etc. and also attempted to flash BIOS. No dice.
We put through a RMA request with our distributor, and then we sent it off.
A month later, ASUS sent us the motherboard back with notes suggestion that it’s working again, fixed with a BIOS update.
We put it back on the test bench. Nothing.
Send through another RMA request, this time asking for a full refund as we already ordered a brand new replacement motherboard and finished the project weeks prior. We were then advised to send it back again.
Another month’ish later we get this (see photo).

criminals. get in contact with GN asap.
Based on these complaints, I assume ASUS has poor RMA and customer service outside of Asia. However, from my experience, ASUS provides excellent service in Asia, which is one of the few perks of living here. If you are not within Asia, I suggest considering other brands.
This doesn’t even seem like ignorance but rather maliciousness.
Ive already mentally prepared to buy a new motherboard if my ROG Strix B650E-F ever needs to be RMA’d.
Fuck the customers – ASUS probably
They were awesome 20 years ago, not so much now.
ASUS moment
This is almost entirely the fault of the US government. Why SHOULDN’T Asus fuck customers? The Sacklers get to sell H, punishment free. HSBC gets to launder money for terrorists, punishment free. The banks can sink the entire world economic system, punishment free. Boeing? Nope, no real punishment. The US has normalized the concept that companies cannot be punished outside of a small fee…so why wouldn’t companies like asus start aggressively exploiting customers?
Im sorry if i sound stupid but was the damage already there or was that caused while in the hands of asus. Looks like someone screwed it in with a lot of force and stabbed the part that’s peeled back
Yea i’ve built few PCs for friends and colleagues mostly using Asrock, MSI and Gigabytes only one board was not working out of the box but it was replaced.
No, I don’t believe you! ASUS would never!
This happened with me last year but I thought Fedex did it during shipping, but with the recent accusations on ASUS RMA, now I believe it was an insider job by those guys lol
Bro you live in Australia, it’s so easy to fuck them with our consumer laws here…complain to the ACCC
ROG – Republic of Grifters
I will rather not buy that new ASUS monitor I planned next week but look for another manufacturer
Of course I have to see this RIGHT after I bought an asus board.
Next time I build a PC, I ain’t being lazy with the research again.
So they damaged your motherboard and tried to palm off the blame to you ? .. really disgusting and unprofessional, i would be beyond furious.
I have asus motherboard and gpu, and generally like their hardware and havent had an issue but ill definately consider otherwise next time.
If you’re in Australia why on earth are you dealing with Asus directly?? This is the retailer/wholesalers problem with Asus – not yours
Repair services sometimes new people don’t handle correctly repairs that come in and then send them back and say that the customer damaged the product and it came in like this damaged. It’s good to take photos from all sides as much as possible with everything visible before sending to repair services so in cases like this happens you can always file a complaint and report with real proof of date/time on images and get your money back or they have to give you a brand new product in place.
Republic of screw ups
Asrock is the new Asus.
Welcome to the club. Got screwed by them when i had to RMA my 4090 strix. Used to love them 10+ years ago. Asus is a garbage company now, will never use their products and will never recommend them to anyone again.
So was that corner damage there before you built? Why isn’t the distributor involved? So many more questions and going to reddit for the social fire alarm is… Well …
