Yeah, no surprise the model with historically the worst gaming performance still has comparatively bad gaming performance.
Up to 23% slower, in fact.

That’s also after they heavily pumped up the TDP for more performance so that people might buy it instead of skipping it.
This benchmark is not perfect.

a chip that has historically been great for productivity and has had relatively bad gaming performance doesn’t outperform the best gaming cpu from last gen? who would have guessed
Is it not more reasonable to compare against the 7900X?
I mean… Isn’t the 7900X also slower than the 5800X3D in games?
3D cache versions will obviously dominate in games.
None of these benchmarks matter since AMD recalled the reviewer chips because it didn’t meet their “quality” targets.

I want to see 9900x gaming benchmark on 1 CCD
*sigh* still awaiting a 9X3d to see if its worth upgrading rather than a 7800X3d from a 10700F..
What review leaks? Major reviewers don’t have the chips yet, as per Tech Jesus himself, and AMD recalled everything that was already making its way in the retail distribution channels.
Any numbers out there right now might as well be made up for all we know.

I am not a person that upgrades their CPU every generation. But, I would still like to see AMD start the new gen with X3D CPUs from now until they’re possibly superseded. Just like before everyone building a gaming rig is forced to wait for no apparent reason or face the penalty of buyers remorse.
Well well well, seems like I’ll keep my CPU for at least 10 years.
So I might just be dumb but if the non x3d is better for productivity and worse with gaming, does that mean that the x3d is better with gaming and worse with productivity? Or is the x3d just better overall?
Well looks like I’m going to have to wait even longer to upgrade… I upgraded to a 4090 and was waiting on the 9000 series X3D to upgrade the rest of my 5900X PC. Was hoping sooner than later lol!
