How’s your day going?

Better than yours! Be careful, I wish you luck.

  2. Tip: use dental floss between the cpu and heatsink to get it free

I’m seeing quite a few of these on Reddit, is this because people are fastening the cooler down too tight or are they using some kind of adhesive……?

  4. Day’s going good enough except for the fact I busted the scroll wheel of my mouse by accidentally knocking it off the desk

Just wiggle it a bit? Alternatively scrape all the pins off and cover it in gasoline and set it on fire. Since you couldnt figure this out without a reddit post

  6. 1. Get it a little warm by using the computer to soften it first.
    2. **Twist** a bit first to loosen it.

Either twist or get a flat head screw driver and twist slowly to pry CPU off.

  8. Could be better. Apparently, raccoons have decided to gnaw through some hoses on my car, and I’ve been waiting for the last 4 hours to find out how broke I’m about to be. And this is coming off of just spending $700 last week to fix a different (but similar) issue. I could barely afford that payment, and now I’m completely screwed.

I always twist the heat sink loose, works like a charm

Always twist before lift with AMD sub AM5 lol

I did that once bent a few pins almost shit my pants used a knife to straitened it back while it was still stuck to the cooler removed it from the cooler managed to bend a few more pins then I straightened them back changed the cooler put it back in the motherboard and it still runs to this day

Edit: that wasn’t a fun day

I had this happen to me not 2 hours ago! Was upgrading a buddy’s of mine CPU and was teaching him how to do it in the process. I told him to pull on the cooler knowing damn well this would happen. I found it really funny, he got extremely concerned that he broke something. I simply just twisted it off and handed the old cpu to him then installed his new one. Went from a r3 1200 to an r5 5600x (it was all his budget could fit).

  13. I had the exact same thing happen to me with the exact same cooler lol.

Why is this such a popular occurrence? Just play some games for 30 minutes before taking off the cooler and it will be smooth sailing

Not bad thanks but I see you are in a sticky situation
