I laughed my ass off cause in that playthrough I had that bug that his gun is still in his hand when he gives you the shard and it just go through his skull. I don’t know it caught me by surprise.
Aside for that it was a pretty sad moment. For a character you barely get to know, it was well written.

I think it was a BS death. It was a non-fatal shot. He was only bleeding out. He made it to the car. He could’ve lived, at least by fictional standard. If they wanted to kill him off, he could’ve died more heroically, or in a blaze of glory, or even a simple shot in the head would’ve been better. Instead of a bleed-out in the car, already in safety.

Knew it was coming and we are never given much of a chance to bond with or get to know him. Just a couple jobs and then off to the heist.
The whole thing could have really benefited from a lot more character development for Jackie. We don’t even learn about most of his background and interests until his ofrenda.
There should have been a mission early on where you visit him in his garage. Let him tell us about his interests, his past with his dad and the Valentinos. Then have dinner with him and his mom. A slow pace, bonding experience that wasn’t focused on their job or combat.

Yeah being one of the first major missions this was unexpected. You knew some shit was gonna happen, but not Jackie dying. Not on the first big run. It was a lot of fun having him around. Ive played as a nomad and a street kid. The first nomad mission is alot of fun and I really enjoyed meeting Jackie that way. I enjoyed having Jackie as a sidekick much better than Preston Garvey lol

I thought on my first playthrough (nomad) that Jackie was going to betray me in some way so I was suspicious and weary.
Once he actually died i felt bad because I realize he was a legit friend to V and I was so cynical of people that I never considered that the writters may have just legit wrote a good friendship.
On my second playthrough (corpo) the relationship was more poignant. On my third playthrough (streetkid) I did the ofrenda (spelling?) for the first time and it actually hit home and I had legit feelings of affection for the character and his passing.

I was just a little sad, because If you’d seen the trailers for the game and so on, then you know he’s going to die. Plus, while he was a good friend to V, it didn’t hit me as much as the tone in V’s voice when Victor tells him he’s dying.
Similar events in the game, that hit me WAY harder emotionally, than Jackie dying;
– Evelyn’s suicide
– Train ride with dying So-Mi/Her ending in Cynosure
– So-Mi’s dialogue between the flashback cutscenes
– Temperance Ending credits
– Suicide Ending credits were just heartbreaking
– Johnny saying Reed will “Kill himself for sure” in one of the endings, while Reed looks completely fine
– the war vet going cyberpsycho killing himself as you close the door behind you
– Misty’s handling of all the tragic events in her life
– Johnny’s pondering at the end of Killing Moon
– Today was a good day
