We should stop supporting “ports”. Its 2024 and they absolutely have the budget to make games for PC first and either port it to console later or just do all 3 at the same time.
Especially AAA studios like Rockstar, fuck them.

The real benefit of PC: I don’t need to rely on modern AAA games that focus entirely on maximum profits and making the game a trillion hours long instead of optimizing for maximum enjoyment. I have access to a billion other games.

Here’s the REAL answer to this question:
The idea that performance is the biggest advantage of PC over console is misguided.
Even if your PC is not quite as powerful as a PS5, there are actually still a bunch of compelling reasons to prefer PC, including:
**Available games**: PC has the biggest library of available games BY FAR compared to any console currently on the market. The PC games library stretches all the way back into the 1980s, and many console exclusive titles can be played on PC via emulation. On console, you’re far more limited, and only have access to older titles if the platform holder has decided to either remaster/remake them or allow for backwards compatibility, which is never total.
**Input type selection**: On console, most of the time you are limited to a controller. Some games may allow you to use a mouse and keyboard or a specialized peripheral like a racing wheel, but if the control type you want isn’t supported, you’re just SOL (unless you can find some kind of janky hardware adapter). On PC, you can use basically any type of input device you want, in any game, so long as you’re willing to take the time to set it up.
**Mods**: Mods for a few select titles are available on console, but on PC the mod selection is vast, spanning anything from minor visual tweaks for older titles to complete overhauls that fundamentally change how a game plays.
**Granular settings control**: Oftentimes on console, you might get a few options for “prefer performance” or “prefer graphics,” but you rarely get the option to actually tweak the graphics in the way you want. Motion blur, DoF, or film grain? You might be stuck with these if you don’t like them. Want to use a different anti-aliasing solution? Too bad! Maybe the developer has picked stupid settings that make it so the game never hits its frame target – and there’s nothing you can do about it! Those problems are all fixable on PC.
**The best VRR implementation and arbitrary frame rate targets**: Yeah, consoles have VRR now but PC VRR is still way better. Say you’re playing a game on PS5 that targets 120 fps but fluctuates between 80 and 120. That’s pretty noticeable, even with VRR enabled, and you can’t fix it. On PC, you could just turn on VRR and set an arbitrary frame cap at 90 fps using RTSS, getting greater frame consistency while also getting a better presentation and input response vs. a 60 fps cap.
Because of all these things, I tend to prefer to play on PC *even if* I have an older/weaker PC that’s not quite as good as a current-gen console.

Oh and keyboard and mouse for shooters

It’s hard to have a PC weaker than the console these days.
I mean, new PCs. Not some 6 years old hardware

Another answer is
“Yes, but it also cost double, if not triple in some instances, the price of a standard console. I understand that pc gaming isn’t for everyone, many people are better off having something simple that they don’t need to troubleshoot every once in a while. The thing is, people wanting to get into pc gaming usually have to spend large amounts of money in order to have good performance, turning many away. Add onto the fact that system requirements keep going up, performance increase from previous gens don’t seem to reflect the prices, and prices of used parts doesn’t seem to fall as fast. In total, pc gaming has been in worse states, but I still wouldn’t call it great and getting into it isn’t easy.”

What console ports run better on console than pc? Are you using the same settings console use?
IAmTheWoof
My laptop has waaay better hardware than Ps 5 and can run games in 1440p 240 fps without upscaling.
Low_Friend3063
i pirate the shit out of those games…….that give me and my pc control…..That makes me powerful!

If your pc is good enough no port will run worse than it does on console.

Depends on person. If you come home and have 2-4 hours if you are lucky with no family or kids, single, bored, lonely.
There are advantages to consoles. Press one button you are right where you left the game.
No windows, no virus, no stupid chats or videos playing in background. Just gaming not caring what fanboys online cry out today.
Yes PC is more powerful but who f cares. you just want to play Tekken or Witcher for few hours and go to sleep. Cheap and easy to sell with disc games.
PC if you are bored teenager with no social life and friends is very appealing to get depressed with and waste best years of your life watching and donating to clowns online.

The Real Answer is: Yes, but hardware is largely irrelevant- it’s just that I can run Sega Genesis emulators & you can’t play the 4 exclusives that actually came out for your console at 60 FPS.

Elden Ring
FromSoft make great games, but they’re the worst PC port devs I’ve ever seen. The initial release of Dark Souls 1 didn’t even support mouse input or anything above 720p. And Elden Ring still has major stuttering issues for many PC players.
It sucks seeing PC ports get treated so poorly, especially when you realize how dumb that is since PC has a bigger playerbase than many realize. It’s long past time we stopped treating PC like a niche market
Chris56855865
Of course, because my PC is much more versatile. It’s not just about games.

For the 3rd picture I remember a console port ( If I can call it a console port )… Cyberpunk wich was a total fuckin disaster on console.
Dev should opt for both port… that work nicely on console and also on PC ( it’s not like they can’t do things seriously ) they just make their game and threw it on the face of the players with no optimization…. thinking only for $$$. ( even if it destroy their reputation )
“OH…. Can we make the version of this game ( that run normally a t 60fps on a 4090 ) for the switch ?
Answer : “Yes Mofo, let’s do it” ( sound of casino jackpot on the background )

Your pc is not better, hate me all you want but proof me wrong. Build an all new 550 bucks pc with keyboard and Mose included that can play at the same level as a ps5 (nervermind that its 4 years old now)
And when it comes to games, not only do you actually own them you can sell them after playing the game and thus also have access to a massive second hand market where prices are often the same or lower than pc
SkoulErik
You play PC for the better hardware.
I play PC for Mouse and Keyboard.

PC is better, but the point is super valid. Thinking as a developer, imagine being able to program knowing all your users are using the same exact machine specs. That’s the dream!
SuperSaiyanIR
I like all the points made here but people forget one thing. PC players don’t need to pay to play online multiplayer under the pretense of “safety” or whatever BS they are spewing. Also for exclusive titles, almost all of them have eventually made it to PC (screw you Nintendo) or you can also pirate and emulate (double screw you Nintendo). I think the reason most people prefer PC over consoles is the freedom it gives you and that you actually can access the games you play to their maximum without lining the pockets of MBA grads who only want to squeeze money out of everything.

I always ask something like “how many PCI lanes you have on the GPU” or “you running an NVME on the PCI?” And I already know the answer by the stare.
