I suspect that it’s because America sucks so much that they see any American defeat as good, and don’t stop to think that the Soviet Union was worse in every way, not to mention the tens of millions (at least) of Europeans that would be killed immediately.
I think it’s more so that you don’t end up getting gunned down by Adler in this mission
