I have a question about Valerie's romances. Who do you prefer between Judy and River and why?

I obviously prefer Judy and I find the romance with River very forced and out of context, whereas the one with Judy makes much more sense.

What do you think?

I’d be shocked if even 5% of people picked River over Judy

I don’t dislike River but there really isn’t that much content with him. Judy has all those cute texts after you pair up.

River is bro. River can otherwise buzz off.
    Judy is cutie.

    Well for me

    1.Im a man

2.My type is Emo..and Judy is fine asf

3…….Yeah Judy sums it up plus their chemistry is great, if they had added more female romance options to the game for Valerie I think I’d still settle with Judy

I don’t get why people shit on River so much, I didn’t think he was that bad of a romance option. Admittedly, he doesn’t have as much interaction compared to Panam and Judy, but he’s not bad.

I’m just annoyed Kerry wasn’t a more fleshed out romance option. The weird thing about Kerry is that canonically, he’s not gay. He had an ex-wife. But for some reason, CDPR changed his sexuality so he only likes male V.

I don’t find River all that flattering and he’s only about being a detective, not finding his character to be in depth

I think it’s a shame we never got the mooted Meredith Corpo romance.

Kerry should be able to date female v aswell hes bi in the lore anyway

As a woman, River is the perfect example of when a man asks other men what women are into, rather than asking women.

Honestly the only two decent options are Panam and Judy. Judy has loads of texts that she can send you and actually feels like a part of your characters life and Panam has texts that reference things you’ve done in game like the Us cracks Kerry Eurodyne song I don’t think river or Kerry even interact with you after finishing their romance path

Judy’s romance is imo the most developed and mature romance in the game. We spent more time with Judy, Judy is present in the story of the main quests, Judy has a bigger and(or in fact most) interesting backstory, there are hints that she is interested in V and V also have option to say that she hope they will meet again, she has the best love scene in the game (I’m really not a fan of the rest of the love scenes to the point that the rest seems to be imagined by a 10-13 year old kid compared to Judy’s scene), she texts you more and leaves with V ending in Aldecaldos.

River on the other hand is a side character, doesn’t seem to be interested in V until the very end, has less screen time than Judy or at least it seems that way (I didn’t time screen time), doesn’t want to leave with V. As a result, his romance (same as Kerry ) seems forced. It imo would have been more believable if he and V had a one-night stand than relationship.

I like river, the quest tied with him is nice and he’s just a really good character he just needs more depth honestly, Judy is amazing… until you reach the epilogue that hurts.

I mean, you already said it: the River romance feels very forced and out of context. As a result he comes off as quite a bit of a creep if you consider how forceful he comes off during that jambalaya mission, especially when you also consider how nonchalantly his whole family seems to imply that V and him are a thing. That means that either they are weirdos for assuming that River naturally couldn’t have a female friend – after all, male V has the same interaction with them and they don’t assume V and River are gay for each other – or that River has talked to them about V in a way that implies he has a shot with her and considers taking it. That might fly given quite a bit more relationship development, but due to the brevity of the whole River arc it leaves a sour taste in my mouth.

Oh, almost forgot: Judy reminds me a bit of an ex. It didn’t work out but she’s a good one, so yeah, connecting with Judy was easy, and the fact that there is a lot more meat on the story-bone with her also helps a lot.

Judy. I’m mostly straight, but River is sooo not my type… Wish I could just date Viktor or Takemura…

River just isn’t a well written character and isn’t even really that flattering romantically. It feels like he was written by someone who isn’t attracted to men.

  16. XT83Danieliszekiller

As a hetero-curious (at least I think that’s what I am) guy, I tried both on separate runs and yeah Judy was clearly written to be a GF dynamic and River to be a super best friend…

Judy. She’s so sweet, she’s your ride or die, she’s just so fucking cute. River is annoying af

I’m kinda in love with River, I think he’s the hottest person I’ve ever seen. Yeah, it’s annoying there isn’t much content and he’s just side quests, but it can be fun to make up your own stories about him. Judy is very pretty but I love men lol

Judy has a better storyline, is a better character, and looks cute. Her story makes me want to take care of her. And leaving Night City with her and the Aldecaldos is just a satisfying ending.

River’s story is way too short. I kinda had a crush on Josh, so that made it kinda weird, and I don’t really like kids. And probably most importantly, I don’t find River visually attractive. I hate his cybernetics, his eye with the big scar, and only his cybernetic hand.

  20. TragicGentlemen

River doesn’t give V proper time to recover after causing her to live an insanely traumatic experience. Plus, the fact he can even get it up less than a business week after that is concerning. Bombarded her in a place where she’s at severe disadvantage (family cookout), and then ignores all signs and asks her out on top of a tower or whatever. Which imo would make me very uncomfortable if saying no could mean risking getting dropkicked off and plummeting to my death.

Judy, all the way. Not even close

Honestly as a straight dude i woulda been fine having my Female V date River but like bro his character isnt really fleshed out you know what i mean? Like we spent more time solving NC crimes than actually knowing the dude. Doesn’t help that when the sex scene came up i was like bro this dude cant fuck for shit 🤣🤣🤣

  22. mrsecondbreakfast

Everyone talking about romance options while the Aurore cult are crying

  23. feelincutetoday

Judy is the best gf ever.
    As sweet as sugar.

    A strong sense of justice.

River tho… was the most cringiest experience ever – but the shirt was nice lol.

  24. ItsNeeeeeeeeeeeeeko

If River had any hair, I would like him a lot more

  25. ProteinResequencer

Only their closest friends can call them that, and that ain’t you.

  26. As the lesbian looking over Judy’s shoulders seeing river, god you straight girls should’ve gotten takamura

  27. patlatii

Initially saw River as hot but interacting with him felt like i was in high school again and dating a boy who learned cheesy lines from the movies.
Also that mission was so gross, I would ghost him just to forget about what i saw in that farm
