I just bought this 4090, when coming home I put it standing on my kitchen counter to take a picture, I turn my back 20 seconds and my cat tipped it on the ground, it fell right on the ports plate, bending one port and denying the PCB.
I tried putting it in my pc, the GPU red led next to the 12VHPWR light up as soon as it is plugged in.
It doesn’t post and of course the VGA debug led lights up on my mobo…
Is there a solution or is it toast ? I can do trace repair but only if there are no internal traces in this spot. There are two ripped traces on the GPU side, and one on the backplate side.
Any advice appreciated.

Well shit, “It was like that when I opened the box”
Sell the cat

Never put anything high.
Feed your cat more frequently
Use your 4070
sorry for your misfortune
OP I hope you learn from this. Never treat expensive devices with a lackadaisical attitude, especially with animals around.
Don’t worry, I am sure you will still get a few upvotes for this picture instead. Maybe even a few more!
Seeing as you are already up shit creek, you might as well try to paddle.
If you are careful, I would try to dismount the cooler, and visually inspect the card – the weight of the cooler and the impact, might have done some other damage.
The damage in the picture is unfortunate, but does not seem THAT bad.
So taking the cooler of, inspecting, and putting it back together, that would be the first thing I would try.
It might be that someting like a capacitor etc have been damaged / disloged, you might be able to get a repair shop to fix something like that…
Seeing as it’s a 4090, I would try to get it back to life 🙂
Damn that’s a really hard hit, especially considering that’s where the bracket was so it had a lot of protection and still managed to smack like this. Probably a lot of damage (can you take pics of the destroyed traces?) and you can’t know if there is anything internally wrecked here without proper schematics and i bet that Asus just dosen’t have these lying around. Also who knows what else popped inside with an impact like that
Try sending it to northwest repair

Why does my gut tell me you’re blaming your stupidity on the cat so we all don’t laugh at you.
Pic of your hands around the cats neck or it didn’t happen
Ouch man, so sorry to see that, your best bet to get it fixed is with a guy on youtube called northwest repair.
I don’t blame you, it was an accident and I know the feeling of excitement and wanted to share our new toys with friends, at least you have a 4070 super to play while they fix this
I would plug the cat to the gpu slot to run…
Now whats worse this or the guy with the cat bitten oled monitor ive seen.
Cats’a bastard lol, sorry for your loss OP
PCB denied
Id bring it to the repair Shop first
Damn homie.
Shit i’m sad for you, I hope you find a fix. It doesn’t look too cracked, i’m sure a good professional used to this kind of repair could do something
Easy solution: Train your cat. Yeah they are jerks and much more stubborn and less willing to learn than dogs but they are not stupid and you can prevent them from doing bullshit. Tipping some food or a glass of water off the table is only funny the first few times same as unrolling your toilet paper. But yeah why would they stop when there is something valuable or dangerous? Same goes with dogs that eat anything they find on the street. Protect yourself, protect your pet.
PS: That GPU is 95% fucked.
You can’t have nice things with cats lol
I would not advise opening it and attempting repair based on reddit advise.
I would also not advice two other things, high vanity and second hand luxury goods.
The mix between these decisions have let you here. Seek a repair shop, call them and ask if they do such repair. The tricky part is that many won’t do it but there are still some that do. That would be your best bet.
Good luck.
Looks like it was damaged in transit to me .
90% what this dent is your least concern. There is a massive cooler bolted to pcb and card fell on a part connected to pcb and not the radiator, that means all the kinetic energy that absolute unit of a cooler had dumped into pcb, probably doing lots of internal damage to multi layer pcb and maybe some components. Most repair shops would deny physically damaged card nowadays.
Kill the cat. Blood for the machine spirit
I assembled my computer on a bed just to prevent things like this.
If someone else has a cat and a damage insurance then you could try to convince him that His cat did the damage. 🤣
Not gonna lie, when I built my PC, all components were lying in the boxes flat on the floor and the cat was locked outside my bedroom.
I’m not rushing any damage or breast case scenario, looking for all the screws.
Are you in the EU? If you are you can probably get away RMAing the card.
It arrived like that.
Unfortunate, but it happens.
solution is to RMA it, then when get the replacement a week or so later depending on shipping and RMA approval, if going to take a silly picture, make sure it’s on a high surface cat can’t reach OR you have a buddy over to swat the cat away and guard your shit while focusing the camera 😂
Never understood ppl and their cats. All they do is fuck your shit up. Sorry OP. Expensive lesson
