Their last great game was gothic 2, 21 years ago. It’s sad these people lost their jobs, but i doubt there were many left from their golden age 20 years ago.

I’m surprised they’re still around it I’m honest. They’ve had about two decades of mediocrity in their releases in an industry where just a single bad release can spell the end of their business.
Like, they were so far off my radar these days I didn’t even know ELEX got a sequel.

Really should’ve switched to a new engine. The jank was just to much for modern gaming.

Sad to hear, but not overly surprising.
They were never able to elevate their game making to match the modern standard of highly successful titles.
Risen and Elex both have a lot of good ideas, interesting gameplay, story. But as a whole the games just fall a little short. In many ways the games just feel stuck in the past. They’re games that would have become cult classics had they been released 20 years earlier. But for modern standards they just don’t quite cut it.
Hopefully the developers find other jobs in the industry. I’m sure their expertise would be beneficial to many companies.

Dude I loved playing Elex and Elex 2. They felt like student projects. Clunky. Odd. But I had so much fun regardless.

Holy shit, can’t believe that actually happened. I blame Bjorn Pankratz for this. I still enjoyed Elex and Elex 2, but everything went downhill since Risen 2. Too bad we won’t see Elex 3 and the end to that story. Damn. Just damn.

I had no idea who funded them all these years. They really never improved. Gothic 2 was good but everything after that was just the same shit with minor improvements.
At its core the Games still played liked they were made in 1998.
KGarveth
Their games were just a little more than mediocre but I liked them.

You know shit’s fucky when the Eurojank is closing up shop…
