120 watts is not a large number, especially since AMD provided tdp is usually close to its actual consumption number, unlike say à 13700k with a “””125 watts tdp””” that actually uses twice that.
Besides “eco mode” will likely exist if you want to run it at 85.

AMD’s “TDP” numbers don’t include power anywhere in the equation, fun fact.

Tdp doesn’t mean power consumption….. my 7800x3d has a 120w tdp but I’ve never seen it go above 60w of power consumption

Didn’t their -X SKUs already trend towards running a triple-digit TDP in the last two generations?

There are no rumors of a 9800X, is it just being kept secret until intel releases 15th gen?

I’ll believe it when I see it.
Regardless, it’s not that much anyway.

I remember the days when AMD was considered the space heater processor. Glad they’re finally getting the recognition they deserve

back to the FX era heat generation……I guess my Noctua NHD14 should still do the trick.

Meanwhile intel has a 125w base TDP for an i5
At that point just make it the 9700XT or 9800x
