Hey, never played the game at all or anything like that. I know nothing about this series at all. Wanted to watch it with my girlfriend cause I heard it was really good. I’ve only watched 2 anime’s so I don’t have much knowledge about it.

Yeah, it’s short, great, and it’s not hard to understand the world it’s set in

  2. Meatslinger

If it’s any kind of a recommendation, the creator of the Cyberpunk universe, Mike Pondsmith, said that the show was everything he could’ve hoped for.

Hated it first but its an incredibly good anime

  4. Yes, it’s partly responsible for reviving this game.

I have just started my second watch through. It’s really good. I watched it before I played the game and loved it.

  6. Different-Produce870

Watch it, I’d love to see an outsider’s perspective

If you like anime, yes. I personally don’t, but having said that, it’s decent in any case. It’s goofy but it’s not bad.

I’m not an anime enjoyer, but I enjoyed it.

  9. Yes. Also, you should play the game after watching it.

Well, it made me cry. I loved it. I totally recommend it.

There’s a reference to it in the game, you can watch a ‘braindance’ (short video clip) that you find in a rubbish bin. Then afterwards you have a txt conversation with one of the characters. It’s cool, nice to have some crossover to reinforce the notion that the two stories are in the same universe.

    Its a really good Anime,

Although you should be warned that it doesn’t shy away from nudity and sexscenes

I don’t like anime but I loved Cyberpunk 2077 so much that I didn’t wanna miss anything so I watched it and I really liked it!

I watched it before playing the game. When i finished it I installed the game and became addicted to it.

Friend, I’ll put it this way: I have **NEVER** watched **ANY** anime. They don’t interest me, they don’t appeal to me; it’s a form of audiovisual entertainment that **DOES NOT resonate with me**. However, I’m a huge fan of the game (that’s why I’m here). Some of my friends, who **are** anime enthusiasts in general, almost begged me to give **Edgerunners** a chance because of my passion for this game. And you know what? I finally gave in. From that point on, all I can say is that **Edgerunners** is one of the most **impressive audiovisual works** I’ve ever **EXPERIENCED** in my life

Fantastic animation, great voice acting, gory and funny. But the story was disappointing in my opinion.

Much like the many endings of the game, it’ll hit you right in the feels.

Arguably the best video game adaptation into tv shows

  18. skyestalimit

It is tied with Ghost in the shell as my all time favorite anime.

It’s very good but just be aware if you’re unfamiliar with the genre – anime and cyberpunk can be pretty graphic. Violence and nudity. It is very much adult content (I say this just to warn you in case your GF is not into more gratuitous grit).

With that said, it is very good. And the beauty of the genre is the very real commentary it makes about our current trajectory as a global society.

If you will, there’s nudity and sex in some places, be careful

  21. I watched it and didn’t like it. It was very cringe and I wasn’t a fan of the animation. But I’m the small minority it seems. I’m glad it brought a lot of people to the game. 🫶

    Chrome up, choom.

I’ve beaten the game back when it was a buggy mess on ps5 (using the ps4 disc) the lore of the game drew me into the anime once I finished watching the anime I did a another playthrough during the edge runner update now I haven’t touched the game since phantom liberty came out

  24. Remote_Lake2723

It’s a pretty good anime. Has old school anime vibes, that I enjoyed. It’s separate story from the game, so you can enjoy it with or without having played the game.

  25. Wardog008

Yes, absolutely. I had been holding off on buying the game after how bad the launch was, and almost forgot about it.

Edgerunners came out, I watched the whole lot in one sitting, and then watched it all again over a few days, then bought the game. Iirc, within a week of the show launching, the game hit a higher peak player count on Steam than it had ever had, and sales went through the roof.

  26. lionpatronus

It’s one of the best anime of all time. *mic drop*

  27. Baron_VonTeapot

I would highly recommend the show first, then play the game. The show was a god intro if you’ve never played the TTG. At least in my opinion as someone who hasn’t themselves.

  28. no, everyone agrees it’s completely trash, i’ve watched it 7 times and every time ive watched it ive found more reasons as to why everyone hates it

  29. I’ll use myself as an example here.

I hated the cyberpunk genre in general, I wasn’t interested in the world, the stories, let alone this game.

When Edgerunners appeared on Netflix, I decided to give it a try because the studio that animated it is one of my favorite studios, so I watched it.

The result? I fell in love with the universe, the characters, the world, Night City, the mystique and bought the game, today I have collected more than 550 hours and I am FAR from getting sick of the game.

Do you people never just give a show a chance. Like watch an episode and see if it’s for you. You shouldn’t have to ask fans if you should watch something they’re a fan of.

Another vote in favor of “Yes”. It’s a fantastic show. Not just good for anime but a good show
