So I’ve been making some progress on this never ending cyberpunk miata build, focusing on the front end. Since last time I added some greebles on the front, one is a EMP / scanner tracker jammer, the other is a panini toaster. The Newest addition is this carbon fiber rally lightpod.
I designed the lightpod by taking a 3d scan of the front of the car and then using my old light bar as reference I came up with a CAD model of the lightpod, inverted it and 3D printed a mould, prepped the mould with filler, primer, and sealer before applying release wax and PVA to then layup 4 layers of 210gsm carbon twill in a wet layup with vacuum bagging.
After that I went over all the edges in black to give it a distressed look and then gave it a final coat of matte clear.
Made plenty of mistakes but overall pretty stoked with it.
I filmed the whole process for anyone who wants to see it. No dialogue, just work.
