If it’s function is to kill sticks of ram with too much voltage, then I’d say there’s a pretty high chance of it functioning.
If it’s function is to give you more ram over USB, then it has a 0% chance of working.

There are hardware limitations such as address channels, data channels, hardware instructions that will only reach the RAM memory space and work only with them, etc., all of these physically built to work with the motherboard RAM slots rather than USB devices.

Appears to be a ram tester on a usb port principal but missing components for power and few other things as a bare kit. You could never use that as an extended external ram though. I have seen external ram testers before that was similar and you had to define voltages and stuff in the software first before inserting.

The SO-DIMM slot pins don’t seem to be going anywhere (the ones being used will be being routed under the slot to the other side of the PCB and the USB data traces seem to also be going to a component on the other side.
There’s a something on the other side of this PCB, which is where the real information is.

At one point in Windows , you used to be able to connect high speed external storage to use as extra working memory (basically ram), it’s possible this was made as an overkill impractical accessory for that purpose. That feature was removed from Windows as far as I know.
I have old small spare sodimms. I kind of want to test this. To see if it reads or kills.

You can insert a SO-DIMM card, i think it’s DDR1 256/512mb, not sure.
