I didn’t see anything about RMAs in the rules, please remove if not allowed.
My G.Skill Ripjaws V DDR4-3600 C16 2x8GB kit of memory developed a defect, so I submitted a RMA to G.Skill for a replacement kit. About a week later the replacement kit was delivered, but it wasn’t a Ripjaws V 3600 C16 2x8GB kit, it was a Trident Z RGB 3200 C16 2x8GB kit.
Now they want me to pay to ship it back to them, even though they sent me the wrong kit.
Should I go through with that?
I’m not too familiar with RMAs because thankfully I have only needed to go through this process a couple of times, but it doesn’t seem right that I should pay shipping to fix their mistake. G.Skill sent me the wrong kit, so from my point of view it’s their responsibility to cover shipping.
Edited for grammar/clarity.

Yeah not your job to pay for their mistake. Make them deal with it.

Be very direct with them when you let them know that they are, in fact, paying to return it.

If you’re in the US I don’t think they can make you ship it back at all. It might be worth doing a little research on it.
If it were me, I’d just politely tell them I’m willing to ship it back but only if they pay for shipping since it was their mistake not yours. Being polite and firm will get you far with customer service, usually. Escalate to a supervisor if necessary.
I had my ram fail with this exact kit a week after it was built. Went to RMA and got ghosted entirely. Still angry about it. Ended up buying Corsair

Is the new ram superior to the defective ram? If so, make off like a bandit and ghost them. If they are worse, g.skill are the ones that must rectify their mistake. Have they made any progress getting you the correct ram?

As far as I understand, they didn’t ship you back your RAM for the RMA. So I’d simply ask to have your RAM shipped to you.

Email Gamers Nexus and let them know this is happening after you take first steps to tell them they need to cover shipping. Take screenshots of GSkill emails & the products to attach to the GN email. Screw big companies trying to screw over the consumer. If this is legit GSkill bullshit, GN will bring this to light.
Trident Z RGB looks way better than the ripjaws anyways so idk why its such a big deal
DarkPDA
tried post this on twitter, facebook whatever marking them and accusing from charge you for their mistake?
probably the PR/marketing manager will be called to solve this mess….

Just politely remind them how cheap it is to file a case with the small claims court ($5 in my area), that they’re technically in breach of contract, and that the legal fees will quickly surpass the cost of just sending you some new ram.

I would demand to speak to someone higher up the food chain and tell them to email me a return label. It is not your responsibility to pay for their screw up. That, or they can send you the correct item and bundle a return label in the box.
