I was hysterical when it came out. I thought it was a sick joke to release an unfinished and unoptimized abomination. This was one of the Triple A games I actually paid attention to, that’s why the disappointment was massive.
Fast forward to now, I’m impressed how the game slowly got “unscrewed” by the devs. It still isn’t what everyone expected, but it’s in a good spot now.
The in-game characters, lore, and Edgerunners contributed a lot to the resurgence. PL was just the cherry on top.

I was looking forward to it when it was announced. I had been out of PC gaming (and gaming in general) for about 10-12 years by the time it did come out. I didn’t know much about RPGs or that it would be one. Once I found that out, I didn’t feel like I’d be missing out quite as much. When it did come out as a buggy mess, I felt even less like I was missing out. I’ve been back to gaming for about a year and half now, and have been playing Cyberpunk 2077 and Phantom Liberty for about two months now. A little under 300 hours, and it’s got to be my absolute favorite game of all time. That would be the only explanation for how much I’ve played, how invested I am in the story, and how much I enjoy just spending time roaming the world without even doing anything in particular.

I played it at launch on a Series X and didn’t run into many problems (I know a lot of people did, and I don’t want to downplay the launch issues). I loved it. The city was beautiful, and the story had me hooked. The combat was really fun. I did everything I could in the game before meeting Hanako at Embers.
Now, with all the upgrades, it’s easily in my top 5 favorite games of all time. I’ve completed it several times across different versions of the game.

its weird that some of the things that bugged me originally have NOT changed but my opinion still massively changed.
e.g. I was expecting more open world interaction with people and buildings, and I was expecting my choices to have a bigger impact on the game. Something like KOTOR I guess. But after you reframe it as more of an action game with a strong narrative its more enjoyable.

Maybe I’ll buy it then. As a fan of the tabletop for over a decade, I really hope it does it justice.”
Now: “I heard they fixed it, so I bought it, and now it’s my favorite game of the last decade, *at least*. I’m going to end up playing this like other people played Skyrim. It abosolutely does the tabletop justice.”

When Cyberpunk came out, I didn’t have a rig that could handle it. It would flatline right after starting the game. So in a way it’s good because I didn’t experience all the bad stuff that happened at launch which did taint some people’s enjoyment of the game. Now, I can say with no hesitation that it is one of the best and most immersive experiences I’ve ever had with a video game.

I was ecstatic! Jumping into the world was an amazing experience and one I’ve continuously fell in love with each time I’ve done a playthrough. I of course felt bad for those experiencing bugs, although mine were very few.
Loved it from the start and have continued to love it since, it’s been one of my favorite games ever, of all time!
It feels so plausible and real and still is a breathtaking experience from other games.

The game had strong characters and good plotlines and I feel that carried it a long way in the beginning. If the contnent of the game wasn’t as interesting I don’t think the rest would have been accepted as much.
I felt that the game had huge amounts of potential and that potential has since been filled through great effort by the company.

My and my friend were extremely hyped for cyberpunk before the game came out. When the reviews came in with people saying what a terrible state the game was in and how linear the story was, I decided not to buy it. I bought it this year, expecting a mediocre game, and I am glad that I was wrong.

Cyberpunk 2077 was the first game I preordered since Halo 4 (also a game that disappointed me). So I felt like a tremendous dumbass to have believed in the hype and CDPR. I played it on a og ps4 and it was a horrible experience. After about the 6th crash I stopped playing it and didn’t touch it again until mid 2022 when I finally got a ps5.
I gave it another chance and pretty much didn’t put it down for a couple of months. Replayed it like crazy and now it is one of my top 10 games of all time. I am still never believing in CDPR like I did before or preordering any games lol I learned my lesson.
