Xbox has been doing this nonstop since gamepass started. Ads everywhere and they just spam the homescreen with garbage.

Sony also has ads on the ps5, but it’s not this intrusive. It’s usually in the “Game news” tab. Which you can customise anyway. I think in America, they have an extra tab on the homescreen, which shows stuff, too. But it isn’t present in Britain and probably Europe.
When it’s advocare or payday loans we all know it’s time to switch to PC for good.
Just another reason why I can’t justify dropping a chunk of money on an Xbox. Used to be an Xbox guy through and through since the OG days, but this shit turns me off so hard

Sony has ads too. Maybe not full screen but damn they’re so annoying. Loads them all too before loading my actual apps. Like when I’m trying to get to Netflix or whatever.
Switch is better. There’s a news screen but it’s super non intrusive and doesn’t interfere with loading at all.
Didn’t really mind it, liked the option to watch the whole show too. Makes me feel like I’m part of a community.
Ads are everywhere. Sony has ads, too. Even Steam on PC has a window that pops up with ads. That’s just the way it is nowadays.

That’s Xbox for you. That’s why I quit using Xbox around 2011/2012. The ads were becoming ridiculous.

On an unrelated note, a PC can play almost every game on XBox, and has ads you can easily turn off.
Try [Pi-Hole](https://pi-hole.net/). Nice network-wide ad blocking and security. Fairly easy to set up as well.

Even my windows pc has Xbox ads I can’t get rid of. I unpin it, remove it from start up, uninstall…. And yet every restart, it’s just right there again. Fucking Xbox open, on my desktop bar, running.

This has been the direction Xbox has been going ever since the final 360 UI update. If you don’t want them, then unfortunately the only way is to get rid of the box.
