Do you make engine noises when you roll around? I would.
    Also, looks fantastic!

  2. Wanna do something like this for a while since I’ve found my S550 Mustang seat are so comfortable for my body. Finally pulled the trigger at a junkyard for a mint passenger seat. Few hours with a donor base from my old Dxracer seat turns out much better than I expected. Feels free to AMA.

    Total cost:

    * The seat itself is $100 (they asked for $150 which is not too bad)
    * A metal sheet 10x15x1/4 to mount the seat and the base for $15 (ebay, plus $13 shipping)
    * $20 weld job at a muffler shop.
    * $6 Rust-Oleum for rust prevention.
    * A donor base from my old torn DXracer which is free.
    * And around 4-5 hours for a weekend fun project.

Great way to repurpose instead of throwing it out. Love it. I wish there were actual programs to repurpose old cars by doing stuff like this instead of just crushing them.

That’s pretty awesome. Are you still able to use the recline function or was it originally an electric recliner?

  5. UnusualFerret1776

Looks sweet. Any plans to add arm rests?

  6. Neat, but ergonomically *terrible* for you.

Your long sitting seats should allow movement and change of positions. A car seat, especially from a sports car, is meant to do literally the exact ***opposite***, by keeping you in place. It’s one of the reasons some of those “racing sim” gaming chairs are terrible for long PC gaming sessions.

An office chair built specifically for long sitting sessions in front of a computer would exponentially better.

  7. Honestly such a great idea, those cheap chairs you buy at stores will last nowhere near as long as this.

  8. USAF_DTom

It’s not a PT Cruiser seat (Why were they so comfortable?) but it looks real nice.

  9. chicken_scratch

That’s pretty dope. Add some roller blades wheels and it’ll feel even more premium

As it’s a Mustang chair, do you lose control and crash into people nearby?

  11. BetterAdvancedHumor

Put this on the mustang sub those boys will LOOVE this

  12. Anonymous-CIAgent

WTF this is the best thing if seen on the internet.

I need to make one myself now

  13. I spend a lot of time driving at work and I never feel nearly as much “butt fatigue” as I do sitting in front of my PC, and I can’t really tell if car seats are that much better than your average office chair or if its because you’re somewhat forced to sit in a correct, straight position while driving.

No arm rests is a deal breaker for me. Very cool though!

Are you just going to keep reposting this every few days?

At first I thought either there was a brand of gaming chair I never knew about or you had the wrong sub. It took me a minute to understand.

    Thats pretty dope bro.

I’ve always wanted to do something like this. Maybe not with a fancy powered seat but to just grab a decent seat and frame rail and done what you’ve done and made a sort of adapter plate.

  18. Stealth9er

I thought about doing this for my sim rig. The seats are really comfortable for driving but still hug you pretty decent so you don’t slide much in them.

  19. Connor_rk

damn i wanted to do that too but i didnt have a very good seat to use, then i got a “gaming” chair from my boss, but i’d bet a car seat would be more comfortable, and especially longer lasting

PLEASE put another 3/4 inch thick steel plate under the plate you have the hydraulic bolted to now. The amount of pressure in those pistons is crazy, and when it blows it will shoot right through the sheet you have on there now and you will have a hard time sitting, shitting and probably being alive after that happens. Don’t look up hydraulic chair failures, take my word on this one.

Car seats are so comfortable and they’re made solid, for obvious reasons.

  22. CPLCraft

I’ve always thought about doing this. All I would need are arm rests

  23. macgirthy

Does it have the ventilated option? I think theyre just fans.

  24. Makes me want to do this with the seat of my Subaru Forester. It is the most comfortable thing I’ve ever sat in

  25. Do the electrics work? If not, is this a planned update?

  26. Biscuits4u2

Wow that’s a durable, heavy computer chair. Any issues with it being overly top heavy?

  27. WhyamihereagainU6

Choosing to be uncomfortable is.. something
