Last week I ordered a Ryzen 7 7800X3D from Amazon.de, the one in Germany. I live in Romania and I did this because it was about ~100€ cheaper at the time than any from my country. The funny thing is I was actually considering buying it from aliexpress, following a recent post in this subreddit, but I chose not to because I was afraid it would be a fake one hahah, so I went with Amazon.
I ordered a brand-new (not refurbished or anything) non-third-party seller one, so straight from Amazon, because the shipping to my country would be fast, the price was good (~328 euros) and I heard good things about the warranty and whatnot.
Fast forward to today, I get my package and thank god I listened to you guys and had my girlfriend film the whole unboxing, because to my horror, the thing I received looked nothing like a 7800x3d. As you can tell from the video, the front was just a sticker glued onto another processor, and the back was a Pin Grid Array, not an LGA like all AM5 processors are.
I imediatelly started a return request and shipped it back and I hope all goes well. So yeah, I feel a little bit sad 🙁 and I hope whoever returned this fake CPU to Amazon lives a happy life. Please remember to film your unboxings.
This happened to me with a monitor. I got a good deal on a Corsair Xeneon monitor that was used from Amazon and I opened the box and it was an old Dell monitor inside. Amazon returns department is constantly getting scammed

Amazon takes everything from it’s sellers and put it in the same box. So if one of them is selling fake there is a risk of getting fake products. This is a big thing with bicycle chains, to the point that it nearly became a meme at the level of glass panel + tile floor

Amazon is crap for computer parts. I still have a bunch of stuff I need to mail back from my build. They have a tendency to take returned items and sell them as new. So you pay full price and get some crap that someone else either fried or couldn’t get to work. They don’t check their returns before putting it back on the new shelf. My next build I’ll be using either Newegg or tigerdirect.

This is why you buy from either the actual seller (not some fake Chinese company) or make sure it’s sold and shipped by Amazon because they have a higher standard

That being said, if ordering from Germany – CaseKing is usually on par, and they throw in free Haribo gummy bears into your package, so it’s hard not to buy from the people that actually seem to care.

Amazon just getting too big for its own britches. This is just flat out unacceptable. The question is, do they get the authorities involved with these fraudulent activities or just let their BAU automated returns processes continue on unabated.

I’m just never gonna order PC parts from Amazon. My local PC shop has prices within $5 of theirs. I’ll pay that premium not to have to post one of these stories.

The fact that anyone trusts Amazon after all the scammy shit they send out is insane. Not faulting the victims of it, it’s just wild that their brand outlives the PR of constantly sending fake, shitty, low quality products we with thousands of fake reviews without any consequences at all. A lot of people still just trust Amazon inherently. I still order from them but buying things that aren’t garbage is like skilled labor at this point sifting through all the reviews for genuine patterns.
They at least let you take pretty much anything back but still.

I’ve had pretty good experiences with amazon.de regarding refunds/replacements so far especially if it was an item bought from Amazon and not just a random seller selling through amazon.
All had to do was contact customer support over chat (although finding the link and getting to talk to a humans is made too hard on purpose) , explain the issue, ask for a (full) refund and they gave me a shipping label and despite saying I would get a refund only after they got the item I often received it before they got the item. That includes items very close to the end of their guarantee period. One time when I had a dying ssd I asked if they could refund me now so I could use that money and box to return the faulty one and they did.
The only time I had issues with returning something to Amazon it was Amazon.co.uk and it was a hard drive that came with bad sectors which I found immediately and told them thst the drive is/was faulty, but they didn’t want to accept it. They did in the end including shipping (that was before the shipping labels were used, you’d send them a picture of the bill prom the post office) and I might have been pissed off enough that I edited to bill in photoshop to get some extra money.
