“Our greatest achievement was fixing our biggest fuckup.”
leafsfall5
Should have never released on PS4/XB 1. That was so blatantly egregious. I like this game quite a bit, but you can’t undo that breach of trust.
Colt_Coffey
They didnt rectify shit
anonerble
God you people are special. Making a broke game playable doesn’t make up for the lies and content that Still isn’t there. Idiots
Erocka2000
Should have made the expansion pack free. Especially for people who bought CP 2077 at launch and didn’t return it.
Xlleaf
Gamers have the shortest memory, and it’s why I will always say gamers are killing the gaming industry.
toorudez
Talk about a dog not giving up its bone. Cyberpunk launch was fucked. They fixed it. It was 3+ years ago. Can we move on already? I suppose not. The media still brings up No Man’s Sky disaasterous launch and that was what, 6 or 7 years ago now?
BigBobaFlame
That’s wild, fixing the game that never should have released in that condition. I remember just driving down some roads and my character would die, or seeing NPCs disappear and turn into purple cubes lol…like..bro that’s not an achievement, that game was basically Early Access.
Apathetic_Zealot
Not for Xbox One owners though. Fuck them.
QueenDeadLol
Their greatest achievement;
Fixing a giant pile of shit over several years and a few extra million dollars
To produce a 7/10 game.
Bravo. Only 10 years and **436 MILLION DOLLARS**, for an average SciFi RPG.
This game should have had 200+ hours of content, instead it was 23 on average. What a joke, compared to what was promised and could have been for that insane budget.
Nastybirdy
We would all rather have just had a good game to start with, CDPR. But no. You rushed it out the door and then tried to gaslight fans when we complained.
meta_scout
I feel like the vast majority of comments mention graphics, and that’s all I need to know. Too many correlate graphics and good game.
Too much was promised, and I knew that the promised would never be accomplished, but it’s hard to forgive them for the junk they released and there promises not delivered even these years later. I’ve gone back multiple times after most of the bigger patches and I just can’t see any thing noteworthy about the game besides graphics.
scarparanger
It really really shouldn’t be though. They lied and lied again about aspects of the game before release. Not “they released with bugs”, no they bare face lied about it excessively. This isn’t no man’s sky where the game was just shallow and they improved it over time. They shouldn’t be getting any praise whatsoever, all that does is encourages these practices for others. Fuck projekt red and fuck these scummy industry practices.
Amonguslion
that game is still a pathetic shadow of what their trailers promise
AramisFR
They fixed it but it still ended significantly below their marketing hype. I really didn’t expect CDPR to do a Todd Howards, and it was disappointing ngl
Semi-addict-gamer
Rectifying it for the super fans maybe, I will forever be against CDPR for scamming me with a broken game, that promised way more than it delivered.
jeresun
Cyberpunk 2077 is a 10 year developed game that released 3 years too early
dont_say_Good
Lol it’s still missing promised features and will never get them.
legendary_sponge
is this game worth playing? i have it on ps5 and just for the life of me couldn’t get into it after the prologue
PFI_sloth
Isn’t it wild that they were still saying after release that this game would have an online multiplayer component eventually?
ned_poreyra
The “Cyberpunk was fixed” is the biggest lie of the gaming industry ever.
The_One_Who_Sniffs
People act like it’s the best now just because it runs at a stable fps?
Are we all forgetting about the mountain of promises features _we still don’t have??_
They haven’t earned any good will in my book. They used our confidence in them from W3 to lure us in with promises of amazing features and cool, branching, story lines. And what did we get? A promotional gameplay video showing us our games “best friend” getting killed in THE ONLY WAY HIS STORY ENDS and a cheeky “don’t worry this is only one of numerous possibilities that play out” and a dozen promises of features they flat out said was a lie and are incapable of doing so.
Crowds that don’t pop in and out and convey a sense of realism and space for a literal CITY IN THE FUTURE AND NOT A COUNTRY BUMBLE. Sorry that’s asking too much of our engine.
Wall crawling? Nope too hard.
In game Internet showing ads of things you can actually buy? Nope too hard. Here’s the same 4 websites and emails on every single computer in game instead.
A realistic law system involving shady cops and bribes, detective missions that are more than walking around and talking to a little emoji of a cellphone? Sorry too hard for a studio making millions up on millions.
Relationships? Sorry all we could cobble together last minute is two date cutscenes and one sex cutscene and we’ll just swap all the actors in it.
Fucking hell i cannot believe people act like this is a night and day turn around when all they’ve done is the bare minimum to cover their asses and not get shut down. This game is still a massive failure from even their own original projection of what it was supposed to be AND WAS PROMISED TO US.
You can’t just pick up a turd, polish it off, and call it an achievement.
morbihann
Their biggest achievement was getting the fat exec bonuses despite lying through their teeth.
Aesthete18
I think scamming that many ppl was the biggest achievement imho
PmMeYourNiceBehind
I honestly ended up really enjoying the game after giving it another try after the 2.0/PL release. However I still will not forgive them for intentionlly misleading us into thinking this game was something it was not up to release. I can look past the bugs, but it wasn’t and still isnt the game they promoted.
SonOfMrSaturn
I really think their biggest achievement is The Witcher 3. I like Cyberpunk but it just doesn’t hit like The Witcher does.
FormalReturn9074
Gamers are one tv show away for forgiving a shit game for everything. Fallout 76 and cyberpunk proved that much
_Hotwire_
Games still kinda bland though. I’d rather have a cool city with lots of open buildings than another gta clone with a cyberpunk skin and a shit load of square blocks of nothing to do.
We’ve been getting open world city games for 20 years. Cyberpunk promised way more than it ever delivered. The ps4 debacle isn’t their biggest fuck up by a long shot with this game
DefenderOfTheWeak
They didn’t “rectify” anything, the game is still unfixed up to now
RobotPizzaMaker
Go back and read dev interviews, the planned game was supposed to be more sandboxy, they scaled everything back considerably from what they promised, and settled on what the game is today completely without community input. I hope the next Cyberpunk delivers, I’d love to feel more like I live in the city and gain reputation with various fixers and the factions; friendly with some, enemies with others, doing missions for some, paying the consequences or getting the rewards for decisions I make etc.
Now it’s very linear and boring because of it, in my opinon. The developers overpromised and underdelivered. The prologues were supposed to be character defining and important, they’re just basic intros all leading into the same path. Can we skip the whole chapter with Jackie now, or do we still need to use save files to bypass it?
SkySweeper656
I mean to me they still haven’t. The city isnt alive. The marketing of the game made me expect it to be more of a simulation than a vapid stage.
Until braindances, social activities, hook-ups, and non-quest related activities are included to make you feel like you *live* in night city, its not finished to me.
I expected Yakuza levels of side activities.
fozzy_bear42
Still a steaming turd. Never rectified it.
(Yes I’ve heard PC version is good now, but they sold on a platform they never should have then dropped it like a hot potato when they couldn’t fix it).
baddazoner
It hilarious how they say that’s a achievement or people celebrate them for it
It’s the fucking minimum they should have done for a product they sold that was in a near unplayable state..
They lost a lot of respect and credibility after cyberpunk hopefully they learn from this and don’t release another game a year early when it’s has that many bugs
Zlimness
It’s in a good state now. Especially after the DLC that pretty much blows everything from the main game out of the water.
Doesn’t change the fact that it’s a bittersweet achievement for us who wanted to have this experience on release day. The next CDPR game will not be day one for me.

MrBonis
To me it seems their biggest achievement was commissioning an Anime based on the game…
bleach_dsgn
I’m playing it currently and enjoying it a lot, but I still run into bugs regularly
DirectorPhleg
Still mediocre
RIP_GerlonTwoFingers
Rectify? They straight up lied to us. You don’t really rectify that. The game still isn’t very polished in some areas and I play PC
blue4029
you sure their biggest achievement wasn’t making the critically acclaimed witcher 3?
sarlucic
To be honest, I totally agree with this.
Like any production company, you either abandon a failed launch or try to fix it. Oh no the new Redbull was not appreciated? We promised people wings and epic taste no sugar. I guess we change the ad and the recipe? Still didnt work? meh, lets kill the product.
People look at video games so different than any other product or even media. An album release overpromised and did not deliver? oh no. Saw a movie trailer that looked cool but movie sucked? Meh. A game launched and did not perform up to a trailer. Life ending.
The price factor is of course there, but i think many people have been to a middle level restaurants or bought 4 plus cinema ticket to a movie that didnt live up to the hype, which would be more expensive. The insane hate and strange obsession people have with games where the fix is….just …stop buying things you dont know the quality of or dont like before launch?
If its not for you, ignore it? Whats the cost of your life quality carrying around hate for a …video game? A product among billions? Ask yourself, is there a movie or a music album you carry the same anger for? A food product? It is just so incredible strange to me.
Rant over – to the point. To me, they did not just abandoned it as a good enough product after a couple of patches, but actually worked hard, taking a chance and the obvious care from the development team (look, not talking about business team here, know nothing of that) when it comes to everything from artists, designers and programmers private streams, GDC talks and all inbetween shows that it was personal and they worked their ass off. And to me, a person who absolutely hated the game at launch, with my 30 plus years of playing games. The original game story, The phantom library with multiple actually meaningful endings? with hours of content exlusive to which path you pick? 100% One of the best gaming experiences of my life, up there with A link to the past, Ocarina of time, Final fantasy 6-9. Last of us 1-2, Uncharted a thieves end, god of war series, red dead. It is one of the top 10 best games i ever played and i played thousands and thousand of video games.
