Looks like it’s melting. Are you putting anything hot on it? Or is it exposed to the sun?

As above. Melting. Probably shirty material that melts at slyghtly higher temperatures
Shit material plus its prob mainly where you have your arm/hand, your sweat and pressure would also be a cause for the rubber to start disintegrating.
That’s because it’s shitty rubber, had the same happen on a bicycle handle, just replace it

It’s the plasticizer. Usually it’s mixed well with the material (some kind of plastic) to make the material soft. However over time they may migrate to one location. Add in oxidation, heat, friction, and you get this.
It’s the oils either in your hand or on you. Causing cheap materials to break down

sweat and grease maybe. I had low quality mousepads before who had this happen to them exactly on the side where my arm was resting

Yup this is your hand heat melting the cheap plastic material I had this done to my keyboard during summer my wdas went to heaven in 3 days

I had mine for a long time. Melted do to friction of my wrist and hand moving from using the mouse.
Cheap shit. Get a new one, you can get whole quality desk pads for cheap.
