Can someone explain what happened? I’m not exactly following TF2 news.

TF2 fans killing its favourite game lol.

It’s time to just let it die. I honestly don’t blame them for not fixing the bot problem. Games ancient. But they should stop all the microtransactions and make everything free. Since it’s a dead game and all.

I haven’t played this game in several years and I remember there was a bot problem even then.
I’d be causally enjoying some shenanigans with my friends and suddenly a bot has my username and is killing people in seconds with laser accuracy and I get kicked.
Doesn’t make you want to keep playing it, which is a shame considering how great it is.

or maybe just accept the games time has come and its come down with a terminal condition.
i get the love of tf2 hell ive got 4,000+ hours in it before i just got tired when they gave up on anything new.
its 17 years old and valve stopped giving a shit ages ago and just handed the keys over to the fans and left. and it been on life support ever since and looks like its starting to flatline.
let it go guys just let it go

I tried playing this on my steam deck- landed on some random server where I basically spawn killed with one shots repeatedly. Un-installed.

Every match I played in TF2 had people screeching memes and insults the whole time. I usually find toxic gamers funny but TF2 players are on another level of annoying just with how loud they are
DogusEUW
Valve running two of their three most popular games against the wall.
Idk whether dota 2 has any issues but reading about the bots in TF2 and witnessing the insanely bad anti cheat in CS2 which makes matchmaking borderline unplayable first hand really is sad.

Honestly, as soon as they added in the market the entire scope of the game shifted. It’s a bit double edged because the market kept the game relevant but the quality of the gameplay dropped drastically.

*sigh* Oh TF2, what you could have been. – I’d imagine there is an alternate Universe where TF2 is still competing with Apex, Overwatch 2, Fortnite, Etc.
The beginning of the end was of TF2 were those fucking “unusual” hats.
Valve doesn’t care about games and hasn’t for many years.
Yet another game company that decided to chase the dollar instead of producing great games.
Valve, Bethesda, Blizzard…. RIP.
😢 💐🪦

Is this even true? It didn’t get to mixed when the bot problem was really bad a few years ago??

I see this as something positive. What other game has been taken care of like this for 17 years? AND, has still been on top of the genre? I know it’s hard to let go of things you enjoy, but the community shouldn’t send hate, ither companies should learn hiw to maintain a gsme like this instead of pushing out new DLC or a new game once a year.
What this community should do is let it fade out and let it die peaceful. enjoy the memories from all these years instead.

User reviews are useless when you remember how fickle the average gamer is and purposely gives poor reviews to make some sort of statement
