I mean you’re right, people should be using Windows Defender instead of all the other garbage out there.

That doesn’t happen unless you’re an idiot who downloads and runs dodgy .exes, or if you don’t use any kind of firewall and connect your PC directly to the modem rather than the router.
I use Windows 7 with no active anti-virus and I never get any malware because I simply don’t download any.
