They know what a huge backlog PC gamers have thanks to steam and gog. It’s mercy if anything.

Strauss is a clown, dancing around the question.

“I do believe that the right strategy for our business is to be where the consumer is, and historically what this company has done is address consumers anywhere they are, on any platform that makes sense, over time.”

He’s saying the quiet part out loud. Console is where the bread and butter is for many AAA developers including Rockstar.

For reference, GTA 5 sold 11m copies its first **day** on console. On PC, it sold 2m its first **month.** The vast majority of the 200m sales have come on console as they’ve been able to resell the game across 3 console generations (PS3/X360, PS4/XB1, PS5/XSX). But that’s not all. Going further, the GTA Online spending on console far outpaces that of PC by **huge** margin.

In 2016, [this data](https://x.com/zhugeex/status/788415259509948416?s=46) was released showcasing “Additional Spending” on GTA 5 on Console vs. PC. It is an almost useless graph due to not have a Y-axis, but the data provider operates this way when providing paid data and it was determined to be an **10:1** ratio of spending which lines up pretty well with the 11:1 ratio console had over PC in estimated sales at the time: 55m to 5m in ~2016.

Even Red Dead Redemption 2 didn’t have impressive numbers on Steam (50k peak) and that game sold 60M+ total.

All in all, it doesn’t look like Rockstar has much interest in the PC platform and it isn’t one that “makes sense” at this current time judging by that quote from Take Two. It begins to make sense after already launching on console because there will be console players willing to buy on PC if they can enhance the game in some way.

But by releasing both together, console players will just buy one and PC revenue will be limited to the hard-lining PC playerbase which is not a lucrative one for many AAA games these days.

Lol truth is they don’t want people to mod their shit ever again. They will stay away of PC as long as possible.

  5. I-Am-Baytor

They just want folks to double and triple dip. It’s bullshit but nothing new.

  6. IBringTheHeat1

Millions of people are gonna buy a console just to play this game. They know people are gonna want to play this day one and buy a console.

  7. Holymoly1983

Nothing new, Rockstar always waited a year or two before releasing on PC

  8. Why is it that CEOs are the most lying pathetic conmen?

Its money. If you think its anything else, youre a clown.

GTA is one of the most overhyped franchises ever. It’s fun but it’s not all that. I will wait and if they never release it on PC I won’t really have missed that much.

  11. OneTrueKram

So many kids in here talking about why. The answer is money.

People will buy their game multiple times if they have to wait two years to play on PC. Rockstar has double and triple dipped multiple times in the past and like Skyrim, people lap it up.

Hell I bought GTA 5 twice.

It has nothing to do with hackers, modders, pirates… That makes you sound so stupid you look like an astroturfing bot.

  12. Kreydo076

Can’t wait to not buy it, then sail the high sea with mods like i did with 4 and 5.

  13. SunsetCarcass

I’m not even excited to play the game cause I have an idea how it’ll play, so I don’t mind waiting 4 years for a price drop on the pc version maybe epic store free game of the week

  14. Avulsed_76

I can wait till it comes on PC. Also I feel they imply if you play PC you’ll pirate the game. So we buy car like expensive GPU to right down pirate a game costing a fraction of the money spent on PC?

  15. GridIronGambit

They’ve done it back in 2008 with GTA 4 and again in 2013 with GTA 5 and both of those games got released on pc, albeit at a MUCH later date, but at this point it’s a Hatrick. Also if they don’t care about pc sales they wouldn’t have released their abysmal 3rd party launcher of a store front.
