I use a Firefox extension called YouTube Design Preserver. Keeps the old look of youtube but you still have the new features.

I had the new layout a few weeks back, it reverted after a few days, I thought maybe they’d gotten too much backlash and actually gone back on it. I guess I’ll probably have it again soon then.
I actually liked it, it means I can read comments while the video is still visible, but I can see how it would take some getting used to

The amusing thing is that in some ways, this is closer to the original YouTube layout – the Description doobly-doo below videos used to be a sidebar.
So arguably, this is a regression back to how the site was 18 years ago. If only they also brought back ratings and video replies…

Only extensions I have are emote ones for twitch, u block and return youtube dislike

I always watch in “theater mode” or whatever is between the default and full screen.
