Arasaka and Militech are companies that sell gear first and soldiers second. Most of their business is in selling security gadgets like this.

Arasaka and Militech are first and foremost weapons and security providers. Customers can order their products from an approved vendor. It’d be like ordering a computer from one company, but then a laptop from the industry’s leading competitor. Maybe there’s something the other guys do better, and that’s what you want.
Now if this was active Arasaka protection, I wager their contract stipulates no other security firm (especially Militech) is permitted to be hired. Vise versa, too. Which is true of many real world corps. If you hired a contractor to do a job, they would likely cancel their contract if they discovered you hired a second contractor to also do the job.
