I recently overclocked my Intel i7-10700K CPU and aimed for a speed of 5.1 GHz based on a YouTube tutorial I watched. However, I’ve noticed that my CPU sometimes runs at 6.3 GHz, even reaching 6.4 GHz on occasion. I’m not very tech-savvy, so I’m a bit concerned and wanted to ask for some advice.
Performance-wise, everything seems great—I’m getting good frame rates in my games. But I’m wondering if these high speeds are normal or if I might be pushing my CPU too hard.
Could anyone provide some insights on whether these speeds are safe for my CPU? Should I make any adjustments to ensure stability and longevity?

It’s not it’s just a task manager error
That’s just task manager having wrong readings, happens all the time. If you want accurate readings use hwinfo64’s sensor section. Can’t really damage your cpu from overclocking unless it’s going over 100c or your cpu core voltage is too high, a safe voltage is under about 1.4v ish but with 14nm you can go a bit higher. Worse that’ll happen is it becomes unstable and windows/games crash.
