I remember Knopix that was loaded from CD. It was fun to experience new OS. I liked java programming language – you would need only VM for specific OS and all programs would work. With pushing AI nowadays it would be interesting where linux will go.

As someone that heavily resisted the switch from DOS to Windows, Linux needs a way friendlier interface and wider general support for modern users.
With Windows inching towards subscription model ever since Microsoft announcing Windows 10 would be the last windows ever, mass consumer friendly competition can’t come soon enough.

The Linux elitism is real and utterly pathetic. People fail to understand that next to the usability for non techy people, support is also an issue. People use comptuers to get shit done. From work to entertainment. You want to produce stuff professionally? You are shit out of luck because Adobe is not realistically supported. Something most creative sectors rely on. Want to produce music? You are shit out of luck, all major daws and millions o fplugins do nto work natively on Linux an most major audio interfaces do not have proper non latency Linux drivers. The list goes on and one. Even gaming through Proton can be a hit or miss, especially titles that rely on anti cheat just do not work.

I fucking roll my eyes whenever people yap about how Linux is “more efficient for gaming”. Bro seriously? You’re gonna get what? Maybe 5 frames of difference, which you probably won’t notice anyways? At the cost of having to go through so many unnecessary hoops to make games work on it.
Oh its power efficient not computing efficient you said? My computer has a kilowatt PSU, and my desk is already covered in other electronics and peripherals. Anyone thats tech savvy enough already said fuck it to electric bills. If you are in such a financial struggle that an electric bill is gonna bankrupt you, you should not be PC gaming, you need to go figure things tf out. And no environmental impact isn’t an valid argument either, even if I live completely off the grid, become a hunter gatherer cave man, I still don’t put a scratch to our societies carbon footprint because most of the carbon emissions comes from stuff like cruise/cargo ships and airplanes. Me saving a few watts is like trying to drain an ocean with a garden hose.
