That’s DDR3 not DDR4
That’s completely the wrong RAM. That’s DDR3 first off, and even if it was DDR4, those are 4GB sticks. Send it back.
Definitely a scam, the package shows DDR4 – 2x8GB Sticks at 3000mhz.
The ones you received are DDR3 – 2x4GB Sticks at 1600mhz.
These aren’t compatible and are a much older model memory, send a dispute through to eBay support.
Buying on eBay should only be done when there’s buyer’s protection for return.
Seller’s a particularly stupid scammer. DDR3 won’t even *fit* in a DDR4 slot.
If you paid $90 for 16GB of DDR4, you got scammed regardless of what came in the box
Seller may not be aware… Someone buys DDR4, takes out old DDR3 and chucks it in the new box for safe keeping. Somewhere along the way box ends up in someone else’s possession and they know very little about computer hardware (or they do but didn’t look closely enough)…
Reach out to the Seller and see what they say but don’t assume they were trying to scam you.
was seller 100% feedback with many sold items? it was local not chinese private seller?
Getting scammed on ebay? Yea, that’s definitely normal.
I suspect someone doing a platform upgrade figured they’ll get some of their money back scamming people into buying their old parts using the new packaging.

Someone Amazon’d that seller and returned their old ram in the new packaging and the seller didn’t check.
Or
The seller did check and was trying to pass off their misfortune.
I guess I could be here all day speculating. Either way people are compete assholes.
I have some old DDR3-1600 sticks laying around, wonder if I could get some free DDR4-3000 by buying it on ebay then sticking my old sticks in the new packaging and saying they sent me the wrong thing. If I play the victim saying I got scammed, they’ll never suspect I’m the one doing the scamming!

It matters what the eBay listing says not the packaging. If the eBay listing matches the packaging and not the items then first contact the seller to give them the chance to fix it. If they do not then that’s when you contact eBay support. That’s the steps to resolve this the easiest.

You got scammed but tell eBay about it and report the guy. eBay has pretty good customer service especially when dealing with scammers.
