r/battlestations took my post down because it wasn’t a complete battlestation lol I was walking my dog last night and came across a 49” Samsung ultrawide, looked like a G9 sitting in the trash pile on the corner… rip to a fallen soldier 🪦
You can probably salvage it, if the screen isn’t obviously broken it might be a cheap component and worth checking out if you can fix it
dlama
Might only be a capacitor or simple main board issue
IllIlIllIlIIIlll
I hope you picked it up, that’d be a great find if it was a simple fix

I have the CHG90 that I bought 6 years ago that seems to be showing signs of death so this could be where mine ends up soon.

I woulda knocked on the door and ask if I could have that if they’re really throwng it away.

shame because sometimes it could be a simple fix- or at least it would be if right to repair was a thing
Sotyka94
Unless the screen is bashed in, it’s definitely worth to take in and try to repair. Backlight and power supply repairs are pretty cheap compared to a monitor like this.

If the screen isn’t obviously broken, I would totally take that and see what’s up with it.

Only a person with half a brain , would leave e-waste like that. This needs to be properly recycled.

Same happend to me. It was the power supply. The screen was just fine.

How do you know it’s broken and not someone throwing it away for an upgrade?
ptapobane
i’m sure whatever wrong with it, there’s an indian guy on youtube who will walk you through how to fix it and a chinese guy on temu who will sell you the parts, or you can just have it at your place and be like yeah, i keep one around just in case, i don’t even use it
sryidontspeakpotato
I would have parted that out ! Easy quick buck or two for someone who needed any of the boards or lighting

My new G9 OLED is in the trash…fell over and that was it…back to the LG 4k…

I would try to fix it if the screen was physically ok

Doesn’t electronic stuff like that need to be taken to an actual recycler?
