Probably used on higher end models, but still funny nonetheless (HP 250 G3, Pentium model). I use this thing to play music in the shed (sort of a garage to me). The thing truly is a POS and barely even plays 720p youtube videos. And being an HP, it has some weird issues as well.

probably just the same chassis with some higher end model. This one does not need it.
They’re using the same case mold for the entire line-up to reduce costs, I bet models with higher TDP CPUs don’t have this vent blocked out. There’s probably a ton of empty space behind this vent where the heatsink and fan on higher-end models go, you can hide stuff in there.
Have you ever seen low-end tower PCs with the space for the ATX PSU covered with a blank panel, and a dinky Thin-ITX board inside powered from an external laptop PSU? Now that’s real cringe.
Have you opened it up to look? Because that looks kinda like a filter pad, you could poke it with something too to see if it’s spongy.

Reminds me of when I figured out the front intake fan on my case, with nice blue lit rim, was decorative, because it was smushed so close to the transparent plastic panel in front of it that it had absolutely no way to such any air in to begin with.
Ive taken the panel off since, it was tricky but worth it. Its 8-10°C difference in temps.

You think that’s bad? I recently bought a laptop where the entire back side *looks* like one giant heatsink. However, almost half of it is fake. They literally stuck a bunch of aluminum heatsink material together, but didn’t connect it to any heat generating components at all, and its blocked off so no air can even pass through it. Perhaps not so coincidentally, it’s also an HP.

It does perform well, but it definitely gets loud and hot (as to be expected for a gaming laptop).
