  2. Brilliant-Box-3590

These companies are really having a hard time not stirring up controversy for at least 3 days

  3. piet4dinner

They mean beside the “Nike featured ” store in lowkey any ea sports game ?

  4. condosaurus

    Death of EA is near.

    Do you hear that?

It’s the sound of the world’s tiniest violin playing.

  5. NotSoGermanSlav

Outside of convenience ADS are one of biggest reason i dont watch TV anymore i can do same with their games.

  6. GamiNami

Now I could understand having banner ads in a sports game stadium etc because they’re there in real life and would add realism to the game. But I don’t play sports games, least of all something made by EA. I’m sure they’ll add them in non-sports games too however, and is a good reminder for me to not buy EAs stuff.

  7. ItsRtaWs

Devil’s advocate: if the ads are integrated in a natural way, i.e. highway signs, real life stores in open world games, real ads in fifa in the stadiums etc… it would not be that big of a deal.

I think it was nfs underground 2 (?) That had best buys and shit in the open world?

But if the ads are in any way shape or form intrusive or in the UI of the game i will pirate ea game for the rest of my life.

  8. Midnight_chick

Told you but these salesmen want you to think otherwise, ads will make it in and new “gamers” will accept it because they work for these companies and will help this like the $70 games.

    This downfall already happened.

    Sony won!

    😔👍

  9. UrimTheWyrm

Death of gaming? Last EA game I’ve ever played was Inquisition in 2015. Yet to feel that I am missing anything.

  10. Qwerty6789X

the first Alan Wake did this ads on game but non intrusive. EA will do it intrusively i bet.

  11. Yabba333

Cause EA hasnt gouged enough money out of our pockets with Microtransactions they wanna squeeze more money out of games with in game ads…. Woooo!!! gotta pay EA for all the lack of effort they put in these days!

  12. Monotone_Brenton

I would tolerate it if the ads are integrated in the game world and they use the ad money to lower the price of the game

  13. TheohBTW

This is what happens when people who don’t care about gaming are in control of major companies producing games. The same can be applied to every other hobby.

  14. Horiz0nC0

    “We’ll be thoughtful….”

I’ve never seen a more blatant and arrogant lie that actually means “we don’t give a fuck what you think, it’s going to be right in your face.”

Fuck corpo speak. Fuck marketing spin.

  15. Sea_Contribution9139

It be more like the classic pepsi man game, where it an interactive ad

  16. I’ve just lost all interest in anything EA or Ubisoft releases to be honest. Rockstar is close to being off my list too.

Who in their right mind reckons it’s worth paying what they’re asking to essentially rent a game for as long as they want to support it for? And now you turds are gonna put ads in my paid software? Gtf outta my house.

  17. LimitTurbulent1022

Lol, I know we love gaming and all, but everything is dying. We are heading into a worldwide economic crash.

  18. RemcoTheRock

“death of gaming is near” … serious OP

The Downfall of EA games is near.

  19. Yea really thoughtful about how many ads they can cram into their games

But seriously, I don’t have a problem if the ads are naturally placed and non-intrusive. For example, on billboards or other in-game displays where ads would normally go. Instead of the devs having to make up brands for immersion, they can just sell those spaces for ads. We benefit too because it would look more natural when there are real brands present on in-game advertising spaces.

  20. I kinda like brawlhallas approach to this where you can choose to watch some ads and get skins from it. Pretty nifty when waiting for teammates or something

  21. BoltInTheRain

I will absolutely boycot any game with shoehorned ads

  22. WorldBeardedWonders

‘We’ll be very thoughtful as we move into that,’ says CEO, who then paused for a 30 second ad read.

  23. TheGreatGamer1389

Since battlefield went belly up essentially. I don’t really play anything from EA anymore.

  24. Thunder_Chicken64

More like the death of AAA gaming. Which is good, it has been on life support for a while now.

  25. EVIL_MEMNOCH

I dont buy published by E.A anyway.
I dont care what game they release, they dont get any $ from me.

  26. ToughSpinach7

Death of gaming? Who the Fook plays ea games?

  27. Agitated_Occasion_52

It’s only a matter of time before you’re playing GTA VI in the den and a targeted advert for “Monster Girl Island 5” shows up on the billboards in-game and you have to explain yourself to your grandma.

  28. WatonWachuchero

EA executives: Ubisoft is taking our place for shitiest company we need to do something!!

Add ads on “AAA” games… Yes yesssss! *Evil laugh*

  29. Ok-Use6303

So will this lower the price of AAA games?

  30. Radiant-Platypus-207

I remember there was a trial of something like this many years ago where you could download an add supported version of far cry, it played McDonald’s ads before every level. Was kind of cool to play far cry for free. Cool game.

  31. I mean… this has been a thing in movies for a long time now, especially the biggest budget ones.

It’s definitely an underutilized aspect of gaming. Advertisement doesn’t mean shit or annoying stuff, but I wouldn’t be surprised if EA managed to fuck that up.

One thing gamers don’t really think about is that a lot of the games they play is just an ad for Radeon or NVIDIA.

  32. NarutoKage1469

If I paid for the game I don’t want ads in it. A paid game isn’t free over the air TV. If you want to put ads in my game then don’t charge me for it and remove all “micro transactions”.

  33. LeonidasTheRealKing

Why do I feel like EA is going to ruin the next mass effect game.

  34. Stalin429

Haven’t they already done this in sports and driving games with billboards and signs all over

  35. Conscious_Raisin_436

That’s dramatic. Gaming development has never been more democratized. For every piece of shit money grabbing AAA title on steam there’s a dozen enjoyable and thoughtfully made indie titles.

  36. meshydra

If they put ads like on billboards, TVs displays where they feel natural I don’t really mind, depending on context it will be immersive.

  37. Enigmatic_Observer

I’ll be very thoughtful as I quit buying EA games

  38. Donglemaetsro

Battlefield 2142 tried this. Everyone was too busy shooting eachother to notice despite the outrage when announced. No one even notices, but they’ve been trying forever.

  39. Deepfork_

    Death of AAA gaming*

Small studio and indie games FTW

  40. captenmike

I don’t get it, why gaming has to die, just let EA die, by not buying anything from them.
