Melee combat was laughably bad and had basically one enemy type the whole game. still some of the best graphics I’ve ever seen in a game though when it comes to facial animation.
chibbledibs
I thought it was a pretty good game.
Alastor3
They had a pretty good marketing campaign as in showing what the game wasn’t
Ok_Relation_7770
It wasn’t too special but not nearly as bad as people seem to think. It was the first game I played on my PS5 and 4K tv and it looks phenomenal
Tasty-Exchange-5682
It’s a good game actually. I finished it with DLC and it’s pity that we won’t see the second game.
phobox91
Played it late, to try it with a fresh mind and a high end pc. It’s a really average game that just seems a dead space clone made with a low budget, if not for the graphics (absurd seen the cost of the development, they even tried selling it as an AAAA game lol)
Seraphymm
I enjoyed it enough to platinum the game. No it wasn’t Dead Space but it’s probably one of the closest things to it and I enjoyed it still.
RyyKarsch
I enjoyed it.
The second half of the game is also much better than the first.
AWESOMESAUSE10101
I really liked it
Intrepid_Name_5412
I liked the game
cool_sex_falcon
I firmly believe if Glenn didn’t rush everyone to have it out before the Dead Space remake, we could have had something special on our hands.
SuccessfulCicada3116
From the little i played it was actaully decent imo. But i didmt play much of it.
Exciting-Flan-1484
I thought it was supposed to say “cut off their limbs”
Or is this from another part of the game?
1Bot2BotRedBotJewBot
I thought it was great and that is was overly hated because it was like deadspace but also not, so it didn’t meet what people were expecting.
I never played deadspace until remake after this game, so I came in unbiased. I like remake but I didn’t think it was miles ahead Calisto like everyone was saying. Guns were better for sure, and more bosses but there were better aspects of TCP too, like graphics, story, voice acting. I really hated having to always look at the map and save in DS while in TCP you could just go forward with no worries.
Some of the best graphics of any game I ever played. I liked the combat because it was different from pretty much any game I’ve played. The melee felt heavy handed and was brutal as hell. You could feel the hits. The sound design was also incredible. Miles above DS imo. Like if you stand next to a huge turbine it sounded and felt like it. The atmosphere was also fantastic, I played at night in the dark with headphones and it was a great experience for me.
I play games based on what they are though and not what I want. You won’t find me hating on any game. If I don’t like it, I don’t play it and move on.. unlike most of the gaming communities online.
locked-in-place
I liked the game a lot. Graphically it was actually insane.
nikkoop789q
I love and (mostly)hate the combat,I love how it feels to smack zombie in the head and the sound it made is satisfying but melee combat is repetitive after awhile and it fucking suck having to fight more than 2 enemies
myles92
It was free on PlayStation a few months ago and I got it and enjoyed playing. Ended up getting the platinum trophy for it
Queasy-Reference-449
What game is this?
moistcritikalclips
Death Animations absolutely rocked in this game though.

Why do people still not put the game name in the title? Not everyone knows games by a single screenshot
Kalk_Dock
As a trophy hunter, I don’t recommend getting 100% on this game with all dlc.
6.5 play throughs.. it’s a 10 hour platinum and 60 hours 100%. Some of the dlc trophies aren’t even imaginative. Beat on ng+. Beat on hardcore mode. Beat on hardcore mode ng, which is easier now.
Beat on a mode that chapter resets. Beat on a mode without ever dying. Mind numbing. Too much repetition. Sometimes, I question my own sanity.
Edit: I feel I should at least give it some praise. The environment, lighting, characters reactions, voice acting, and facial reactions are incredible. At face value, the game shouldn’t have been released for more than $30 due to length, and what I think is a lackluster story.
What attracted me to do all other play through was the challenge it led to. You ended up learning spawn points, enemy skips, and tactics that pretty much turned you in to a speed runner. My first run was around 8 or so hours and my last around 2 and a half. It was repetitive but still fun. 6/10
I_PARDON_YOU
Incredible atmosphere and visuals. The storyline was meh and the gameplay was underwhelming but overall a great experience
notatallimsure
For what it’s worth, I did enjoy playing through the game. It was so very short, though. And many things were just badly-implemented, like a “save game” option that did…. nothing? It would just set you back to the checkpoint before your save so what was the point? The trailers made you think that the big patrolling robot enemies would be common enemies you had to deal with but there were only like 3 or 4 of them the entire game. And it was also extremely short. I got to a point where I was thinking “okay this feels like it should be about the halfway point,” and then the game just ended. Overall, worth playing, not worth full price for.
CosmicOwl47
It had a pretty solid Podcast series leading up to it.
Reloader556
Dodge left. Dodge right. Hit.
satufa2
Nothing removes the scare factor of an enemy like the game forcing you to beat them to death in melle combat.
lem00s
Got it bundled with my GPU, an RX6700XT – y’know, a graphics card that should hopefully run the game. It stuttered like a mf in certain areas. Rest of the game wasn’t really bad tho, the combat is a little swimmy, but aside from that Callisto is a pretty cool game.
Alarming-Magician637
The painting the instructions in blood is just ripped off from Dead Space, no?
TheMilliner
It had a lot of good ideas, but it really shows that they had to strip all the PUBG stuff out during development and piece something together with what was left over so that they didn’t just waste all that dev time.
Like, there’s a LOT of stuff that just flat doesn’t make sense, and it’s almost certainly because whatever was *meant* to be there had to be removed or reworked around the PUBG stuff being removed. Stuff like the weird SAW traps and OSHA-nightmare machinery all over the place, like the generators made up of 12 spinning drill things with no coverings or entirely open-faced giant fans. Y’know, stuff to throw bloodsport competitors in, not stuff you’d see in a functioning prison-slash-test facility.
EvanMcc18
It was an alright game. Visually stunning, gameplay was alright but got very repetitive near the end and recycling bosses was also a let down.
Alright game just disappointing
_ObsidianOne_
it had good visual but other than that it is pretty meh.
dorsman84
I love this game. Just beat it for the second time and finished the DLC last night. I hope for a sequel but I won’t hold my breath. You can get the PC version for 5 bucks right now which is a steal.

I’m so mixed in it. There were moments I go “ok this is sick” and minutes later I’m going “wtf why”

The duck dodge dive duck combat was challenging at first and made me quit within the first 15 min of gameplay then I revisited it after a year and finished it. I really enjoyed it on my oled deck
Bango-Skaankk
I full heartedly looked at your post title, then the screenshot, and thought “Yeah everyone loved the Dead Space remake, it deserved the hype.”
high_technic
If it was not for the horrendously unpolished combat mechanics, it could have been pretty solid. The Art Design was exquisite. You can tell they spent extra time making the lore of Black Iron Prison ruthlessly creepy. Too bad they did not spend as much time making sure the game plays well (aside of how badly bugged it was at launch).
Shellman00
I mean it wasn’t even a bad game. I bought it on day 1 with no expectations and had a great time. I think the people that fooled themselves into thinking this was a Dead space successor, surely had themselves set up for failure, and thats where the majority of bad rep comes from. Cant really blame them though, Glen Schofield did after all direct this game. But yeah, unrealistic and largely unwarranted expectations from the audience killed it.
My main complaint with this game is you can easily exploit the dodge mechanic to make essentially every combat scenario super easy. Asides from that it’s a good attempt at dead space but with less emphazis on crafting guns.
nerva89
Nope

I liked it until the boss whitch was then rehashed 50 times…

Lost Again is peak music so the game is peak (i only played it for 3 hours like a year ago)
HeavyDT
I didn’t hate it. It’s still a very impressive game visually and provides a decent spectacle. I personally feel like it received an undue amount of hate but to be fair they were chasing the ghost of Dead Space which was the first and biggest mistake imo. They should have just tried to do something totally new so people couldn’t even link the two together in their minds. It’s sad because there was clearly some talented people that worked on this. No doubt in my mind that if this game could have just done well enough to warrant a sequel or something they would have ended up killing it.
