Bet none of you have achieved what I have. Used up a single tube. Took me 5 years.

I have dozens of partially used tubes going all the way back to 2001, lol.

  2. retro3dfx

Over the past 27 years of PC building for myself and family members, I’ve probably only used 3 large tubes. But I’ve purchased way more than that, because if you let it sit too long it separates out of solution and you have to re-buy. I had that issue with Arctic Silver a few times.

  3. unabletocomput3

Is this a 4g tube or bigger? I’ve used up several 4g Mx-4 tubes before

  4. phaleur01

sorry to disappoint u but in our shop these usually last half a year

  5. iriegypsy

You’re supposed to have 5 of those in the junk drawer not one empty one. How did you fuck this up?

  6. 30-percentnotbanana

Took me 6 months get on my level.

    Doesn’t thermal paste expire?

EDIT: NM, I’m thinking of solder paste. I have some that recommends refrigerating it.

  8. InsaneInTheMEOWFrame

I bought an XL tube a decade ago and its still going strong… I wonder if these things have a shelf life ;P

  9. BlastMode7

I’ve had to buy three of them so far this year.

  10. louiscools2005

Nope, but I’m almost halfway through. I’m getting there. 🙂

  11. StarHammer_01

Ove emptied like 4 1/2 tubes of kryonaut. I should just make my own at this point.

  12. ImprobablyDamp

You mean the rest of you don’t forget where they get put and have to buy a new tube every time they need to use it?

  13. Raging_PineAppleee

I used the same tube in a month. 😐

  14. No_Comfort_392

Jokes on you, I thought I had to use the whole tube on my first build.

  15. Professional_Gaping

I buy, test, build, sell computers as a side hustle, and have used more thermal paste than toothpaste.

  16. My kids found mine, it got smeared into the carpet…

  17. CurrentlyLucid

I just used the thermal pad that came with the processor, same for the cooler, been running about 4 years now.

  18. I repair computers for living. One tube barely lasts a week.

  19. travelavatar

Hmm i built several PCs still have my noctua paste lol.

  20. Shimitzu1

I used to fix laptops for a while around the community, and it took me 2 weeks to empty the syringe.

  21. zubairtheace

I initially thought a junkie posted a picture of a syringe with drugs in it and said he took 5 years to finish it. Then i checked the subreddit and immediately realised that it was a tube of thermal paste.

Note: I have been repairing PCs and laptops since 2010.. I’ve been using thermal pastes since then… How did i miss that????

  22. Burnernumber55555

I actually just finished one too, in a couple of days. They do taste kinda bad tough

  23. weeklygamingrecap

I don’t believe for a second you didn’t shoot a bunch in the trash just to come here and brag. 😂

  24. TheRealTechGandalf

One in 5 years? That’s cute.

At work I went through 2x10g tubes in a year, and I didn’t even do that much repasting

  25. Little-Equinox

    I did 4 years with Conductonaut 😀

  26. Reasonable-Class3728

This happened to me pretty often when I worked in computer repair.

  27. tht1guy63

Single tube took me about 5 or 6 years. All my tools and things always go back where they came from. Multiple cpu swaps, a bad 2080 paste job from factory, and several old gpu purchases cus they are cool and i like having fun with old hardware finally ended my tube. Now i have shitty corsair stuff idk why i bought that i need to toss.

  28. Practical-Cup9537

I go through about tube every 2-4 weeks.

I work at a repair shop

  29. Cheap_Specific9878

Been there, done that. It’s a weird feeling. I had a big tube of 5g of the MX-4, I think and I used it for everything in the last 2 years. But out of nowhere it was empty and I was shocked.

  30. Caeleste-42bit

Uuuhm actually, I just finished the first one this year already and there are more to come 😅

  31. just bought a fresh tube of thermal grizzly (the large one) because I couldn’t find my other one and I was about to swap mobo/cpu on my rig. finally got everything together and grabbed the old mobo box to store it after and low and behold… my other tube… now I have two large tubes and I should be set until next time (when I’ve successfully misplaced both)

  32. RLIwannaquit

yea but half of it is on your hand lol jk nice work

  33. MrInitialY

I use a 10g one in a less than one month timespan. I import and resell used tech for a living now.

  34. NekulturneHovado

I have an almost empty one. So I bought another, but this time 20 gram one.

  35. Calamari365

Wait we aren’t supposed to use them once and lose them only to buy a new one and repeat the cycle?

  36. Lobanium

I switched to a Kryosheet. I’m never using paste again.

  37. Fastermaxx

Just buy a bigger tube then. Or more tubes as you never have one on hand when you need it.

  38. MorningNapalm

I’ve used up a tube or 2 over the years… However every time I used up the tube it fucked me because I always expected there to be more.

  39. Suikerspin_Ei

I already used more than half of mine because of trouble shooting… In the end it was the CPU being dead (or the memory controller on the CPU).
