Myers duped players (me included) that she is a decent person. Right now, I take everything she says in the beggining of PL as part of making that false image of hers.
Both in Reed’s and Songbird’s path she shown who she really is.

Myers, Reed, Songbird, all know how to play V on their heartstring, they knows V’s type, A merc with a heart and a cause, they know how to get V to do what they want, know how to appeared favorable in front of V, and know how to play each other as well.
She talks about a friendship with Reed too. Yet she had no problem to execute him seven years ago. Myers isn’t anybody’s friend she is a cold blooded corpo/politico. She is playing chess and you are a pawn on her board as long as you benefit her
Myers care about Songbird alright. Just not as friend, but her weapon and information centre.
I mean, she probably genuinely believes that.
But her own interests are placed much more higher than anything though, including So-Mi’s wellbeing.

I don’t agree with Statements that myers dupes V or is incencere during the opening sequence.
I think the games is actually more clever than that, it shows us the real Myers at the start.
A moment where we can see her ideology and way of thinking and see it suceed. We see her in a Situation good and evil are clearly defined and when she only has one objective and does anything to reach it. And it works the two of you escape and she carried her own weight. She is a solider and you are her brother/sister in Arms who to figth the evildoer along side her, and Songbrid is the lost Friend who needs help.
She is delusional towards her own misdeeds regarding songbird just as we are delusional towards the 150 people we just killed while trying to escape.
And she stays the exact same for the rest of the Story. She does what is needed disregarding the consequences. But now she has enough Power so we feel and seel the consequemces ourself.
Maybe its not her who is the problem but the Power she holds.

Myers doesn’t understand friendship. if anyone’s watched Veep, President Myers is just like President Meyer (even excluding the names).
Myers likes what Songbird does for her, and may even like her as a person. but she doesn’t view her as even close to an equal and would never do anything to benefit songbird unless it also benefits her.
To her, she is a to she wants to get back. To the world, she is a menace that has to be stopped. To fandom, she is a whycantiromance they are thirsting after. So Mi has multiple layers.

My read was Meyers has a much different idea of friendship than normal people. She has assets, and people like Reed manage those assets. If she can use you, she’ll butter you up and treat you like her pal. Reed sees to it you get whatever carrot she promised for her chores. If she doesn’t think she can control you anymore, she drops you.
Myers is a cold hearted bitch that knows excactly how to play the game to get what she wants and needs. Politicians need to be at least on the same level as top corpos to make it and she made it to the very top.
just like real life, people with lot of power like myers tend to see other people as mere things, since she had songbird on her direct control for years she never really considered the idea that one day songbird woud have ever escaped or turned against her otherwise she would have installed a killswitch insider her cyberware, like probably saburo or kei arasaka did with adam smasher to force him to be on their leash.
That’s the ultimate form of arrogance of someone who lost any form of minimal empathy to people… you won’t betray or fail me beacuse you’re evil, you won’t do it because you know you’re my property.
I always read it as “She is a valuable asset, I’m not ready to write her off yet!”
Nah, she is a politician she will say the sky is green if that means she can manipulate you. As far as she knew, you had nothing to win but were honorable and heroic enough to rush to her help because someone told you it was important. Said that, I really really wanted to eat her ass.
