Remedy is in Control lol. I see what they did there.
BlockBadger
Damage control? Is that what they mean?
ParappaTheWrapperr
The only thing that could save this is a physical release. According the recent Sony leaks, physical games still outsell digital in AAA releases and the digital taking over numbers is mostly just because of indie games. Remedy jumped the gun on going digital only and hopefully after all the DLC is wrapped up they launch a physical version complete on disc and can finally make a profit.
zeez1011
I’ll check it out once it’s on Steam.
Dragonseekingdungeon
Is this game to play without finishing the first one?
Reciprocity2209
No Steam, no buy. It’s that simple. It’s a shame, as I’m a fan of Remedy, but I’m not buying anything off the EGS, let alone installing it.
The reason why they’re not worried is because their games typically continue to sell decently well far after release, and Alan Wake 2 was a pretty ambitious game for them.
That said, I’m sure that no physical release and not being on Steam also hurt sales a bit.
SwedishYardSale
Release on steam and I’ll buy it
Temp89
I don’t believe it was ever forecast to. Control took a year to recoup its costs.
shinoff2183
No physical release and no steam release are crucial. There’s so many of us I’ve seen throughout the internet that will not buy it digitally. I will when it’s 15 dollars or less. As a console gamer digital just ain’t worth it to me. So many steam users would’ve bought it day 1 as well
KING_TEDDY_BEAR
Imagine complaining that you game isn’t selling well when it’s exclusive on pc to a store a small majority of players use.
Odd_Radio9225
Was it Epic or Remedy’s decision to make it digital only? Whoever’s decision it was, it was a stupid one.
The-student-
Quite the headline, an alternative look is its Remedy’s most successful game yet and they’ve stated the game will be profitable this year.
DrMantisToboggan1986
You need to play Control and it’s AWE expansion first before you play AW2, because a certain character features in both. I’ll only say it’s Matthew Porretta, and nothing more.
ShadowTryHard
I’m just going to say this, those who have been waiting for it to release on Steam, as time passes, will look for a lower price when released there.
The probabilities of it being profitable are staggeringly lowering every second it passes.
No one will buy this game in 2-3 years time for even $30 on Steam. Maybe $20, but maybe that’s already too expensive at that specific time.
TJzzz
When its on steam ill buy.
If on epic then its dead to me.
Kaiyukia
The game was so good it’s a shame they’re shooting themselves in the foot
Last_Ad_9314
Alan Wake 2 selling 1.3 million copies in a few months despite being digital only and Epic Store exclusive is quite an accomplishment for Remedy. Just imagine how much bigger it’s sales performance would have been with a physical copy and a Steam + GOG release? It’s amazing how well it sold despite all that handicap factor.
For comparison, Alone in the Dark 2024 (as much as I like this game) has likely not mustered 1/10th of that sales tally since it’s release.
ShoddyPreparation
A reminder that Remedy’s previous game Control took YEARS to turn a profit.
6 months is nothing.
Reonu_
no steam no buy
Alicewilsonpines
the budget is in control 2, they mean
VicMackeyLKN
Great game, will play whatever they do next
Laegwe
Release the game and steam and I’ll buy it lmao
Chihuahua_Overlord
How often/quickly do AAA games recoup their cost ? I would love to know the average
LocmonstR
Maybe if they release a physical version
marniconuke
I won’t buy such an expensive game on the epic store. I don’t care what the fanboys say i personally had serious issues with the store that support could never help me with.
SB3forever0
Release it on Steam. You’ll get the profits.
Tom-Pendragon
I can now give out a perfect example of “gaming reviews doesn’t matter”
CrazyDude10528
They really shot themselves in the foot making this an Epic exclusive on PC, and not releasing a physical copy for consoles.
I would have bought this day 1 if it had a physical PS5 release, but since it didn’t I said I would wait until it’s $20 or less.
As long as physical is still an option, that’s what I want, and I don’t want to support it’s demise in the meantime.
The_Bitter_Bear
Since I’m not seeing post after post about this game being buggy/broken or a bunch of unfulfilled promises I’m sure it will do fine long term. Control was a great game and they did a good job of connecting Control and Alan Wake in the same universe, so they have Alan Wake fans and anyone that jumped in with Control interested. I really enjoyed control so this is on my list but I didn’t play the first one and want to do that first.
Once they get a Steam release, (unless I missed some drama or something where they won’t) this game is going to make them plenty.
So far, I really like Remedy and I appreciate they aren’t panicking and staying the course with this.
Rough-Impact8373
Put on fkn disk f me to buy physical dummies.
KytorIndustries
No physical release, no buy.
ReplyElectrical6271
I enjoyed the game, but at some point it became so repetitive in terms of locations and mechanics. Felt like trudging through a lot of more of the same
hellraiser29
Im still waiting for the physical release to put beside the 1st one.
kookieman141
Bring back Max Payne already
saucenuggets
It would be a tragedy of epic proportions if this masterpiece doesn’t get the shine it deserves. Huge fan of their work.
SteveWondersForsight
Great game even though I was forced to buy it on Epic. That obviously gonna destroy sales
Fiesteh
I want to purchase the physical copy of it. But they don’t make them 😾
itsfuckingpizzatime
I don’t know why I’ve struggled to play this game. The first game was one of my all time favorites, and I was eagerly awaiting the sequel. For some reason though it hasn’t grabbed me. I’m probably halfway through the game and haven’t played in a couple months
Ciccioh
I have it just because of the 4080, anyway, I would have wait it on steam. Fuck Epic
Substantial_Top_6140
I was really excited for Alan wake 2 so I got the first one and tried to play it on pc and it had the worst graphical artifacting issue I’ve ever seen in a game. I got a refund and never thought about Alan Wake again.
Kiwiduder
Still not buyable in New Zealand from the EGS. Seems to be due to Remedy geo-blocking it to prevent people using the ‘New Zealand Trick’ to play early, which is fine, but they haven’t removed it 6 months on.
duck_owner
Publishing really fucked up this game. it had so much going for it but no steam + no physical on consoles really is holding this gem back from being enjoyed by everyone. Actual clowns who are publishing this.
MixSaffron
I bought Alan Wake 2 around Christmas when they had all the deals going on and you got like 10% cash back and Alan Wake remastered included and I paid like $40 CAD?
Just started playing a few days ago and it’s been amazing.
I love Steam and have only bought 3 games on Epic but this game is solid!

Release the game physically ffs
Steam when?
It’s also worth noting that this is also Remedy’s [fastest selling game](https://www.ign.com/articles/alan-wake-2-remedys-fastest-selling-game-so-far).
The reason why they’re not worried is because their games typically continue to sell decently well far after release, and Alan Wake 2 was a pretty ambitious game for them.
