Is this enough for a 7900xtx and 7800x3d people told me 850 isnt enough

That’s way more than enough, I don’t know what those “people” are talking about

  2. noxsanguinis

    They’re wrong. 850w is enough. I have a 4090 with a 5800x3D on a RM850X and it works perfectly.

  3. Only_Emu9133

850w is enough as long as its a good psu

  4. ImSoFreakyFishyFishy

Seems fine to me. I have an 850W for a 7600x and a 4080 and never spiked total wattage over 500. Your will probably max out at 600

  5. Particular_Link_8075

    I run a 850 with a 7800x3d and a 7900 xtx and haven’t had any problems

  6. Ult1mateN00B

850 is definitely enough, I got RM1000x regardless. Not planning on psu upgrade this decade.

  7. Disastrous-Rips

I’ve got a 1000W PSU with 7800X3D and a 4090. Nothing to report, works perfectly.

if you already own 850w then no reason to move to 1000w for this build

if you’re building new and want future proof PSU, get a 1000w

Not likely that the next two generations of GPUs will start pulling 500-600 watts. Your cpu runs max 40-60w watts during gaming. Meaning I would definitely get a better quality PSU than a higher wattage one. Check the Cultists tier list and see if you can get something a-tier.

  10. The_Machine80

850 is probably enough but that psu pictured is awesome and highly recommend.

  11. Those people are just stupid and blindly tries to match everything. So when you pick top tier card like RTX 4090, they’re straigtly recommending you top tier CPU like 7950X3D, top tier motherboard for $1000, top tier PCIe 5.0 SSDs, maxing RAM capacity to 96 GB, top tier PSU with 1600 W etc. Even if 80 % that doesn’t make any sense for your usecase and it’s either just overpriced or even worse choice.

I’m running 850w with 7800x3d, 7900xtx, 4x140mm rgb fans, 360mm rgb aio, sound blaster ae-5, and two nvme. Undervolted cpu and gpu. Zero problems with 850w.

Edit: I’m using the Corsair RM850 white (2021 edition).

    Running an AMD 7800x3D and a 4070 TI SUPER on a 750watt

  14. RedditSucksIWantSync

It’s recommended to go higher because of the transient spikes modern boosting algorythm cause. Gamers Nexus has a great video about it. And I felt it first hand because my 800w dark power had no qualms with my 350watt 1080ti but the 380w 3080ti killed it twice so I grabbed the popular 1200w antec

  15. real_mensch

I use a 800 Watt one for this and mine is a 7900 XTX Taichi power slurper and its enough. So 850 probably will work.

  16. FLaWzZzzz

I run 5800x3d and xfx 7900xtx with oc and power limits at 15% under load the gpu pulls 463w and I havant encountered no issues with a 850w psu (corsair rm850e)

  17. My combo is fine with 850 W PSU, yours should be too as long as you buy something high quality.

  18. Key-Ad-1873

There’s literally a website online dedicated to telling you what you’ll need….

  19. RoofSubstantial5625

I have a 4070 ti and a 7950x3D and only a 750w psu, cpu and GPU both overclocked and system runs fine

  20. arch111i

More than plenty. I have a 4 card 30xx GPU rig running fine on a 1200w PSU. 850w is more than plenty in your case.

  21. jonislav007

I’m currently running a 7700x and 7900xtx off of a 850w power supply and it’s running without any problems

  22. yuritiger

Hey, have same specs, got a similar one. More than enough. Enjoy!

  23. Creative_Rub3823

I have the same PSU for my 7800x3d and XFX Merc 310 7900XTX.

  24. MarcellusxWallace

Well, I had the RM850x and my PC would restart when gaming almost 100% of the time. I had to undervolt the shit out of my gpu to get it to work somewhat reliably, at least in Elden Ring. People told me the same thing, that 850 wasn’t enough and to upgrade to 1000W due to the 850 not being able to handle power spikes.

Well, I bought the 1000 and it still restarted. In warzone, then later in elden ring when playing on max settings.

I’m feeling a bit defeated at the moment.

  25. widowhanzo

I have RM850x with 7900XTX and 12700f and it hasn’t caused any issues yet, most of the cable slots are empty so i assume it can handle even more

  26. Intelligent-Pause-32

    I’m running a 12900k and 3080ti with 850w, you’re good.

  27. Archelaus_Euryalos

Yes, it is. Thought you want to run your PC with a PSU that’s about 150% of what you need. They become less efficient as you draw more power, so you want to keep it about 66% or you end up having to pay for more power in the long run.

  28. notholefish

if you ever have questions on wattage, just use pcpartpicker
