He was personally selected to bodyguard Hanako Arasaka. Like Takumara, I’m sure Odas backstory is also similar. Lived in shitty conditions as a kid, found by Arasaka, and rose the ranks. He had to be the best of the best to even get a chance at being selected to be a bodyguard for that family, and he probably wasn’t even trying for that position.
To him it’s a great honor. The fact that he even agreed to meet with V and Tak that night was a HUGE security risk. And then they tell him his bosses brother killed the emperor? Hell that sounds like blasphemy to me too, if I look at it without the knowledge I have. His loyalty is to the Arasakas.
But yeah, total meat rider..
