Devs should start making linux ports, this windows mess is not getting better

  2. Bonus-Optimal

When you discover that people like to troll youtube polls

  3. Babushla153

The 2% couldn’t press no because of the amount of ads on their screen

  4. CoffeeMunchMonsta

Windows is really trying its luck lately ,wants to be the next Budlight .

  5. GrimReaper-UA

Where I can find ads in my Windows 11?

  6. When you install W11, or 10 and it asks you about personalization and has a bunch of check boxes. Just disable them, there you go, no ads. I’ve used 11 since it released and have had no ads, because it’s so fucking easy to disable. Also no, they won’t change when you get an update, my settings have never been changed, I check them every update to make sure.

I’ve seen people defending ads from Microsoft over in the xbox subreddit, reasoning being why wouldn’t they want to know about new features and offerings?

  8. BigGrinJesus

They work for advertising companies or advertise their own businesses.

When this gets worse and the adds start really effecting people ( they will in time) then linux is about to get 1, a whole bunch of beta testers to help develop whatever version and 2 alot of people who don’t know shit all about computers because most computer users only click the ‘apps’ and thats it.

The 2% here are almost certainly thinking “If it has ads, it should cost less. I want it to cost less, so it should have ads.”

The logic is sound, it’s just that the premise is false.

The people who voted yes are the people who will say “Companies deserve to make money how they can and Microsoft probably isn’t making enough money if they’re inserting ads. And I don’t mind ads! So let them make some extra money”

I’ve seen people defend this kinda thing. The whole Roku patenting tech to inject ads into whatever you’re watching? I legit saw people defend that because “You bought a budget TV, so this is how they make sure they get money. They sell a cheap TV (then they blame you for being poor or buying cheaper tech) and subsidize via ads”

People are so braindead and willing to defend corporations over anything they do. More invasive DRM? “You don’t have internet?” has popped up more than a few times. They literally defend getting a worse product because they think the company needs to do this.

There were ads in Windows 10 as well. This is nothing new.

  13. MarcAttilio

imo it would be fine if it were in a free version, but not in >100€ paid software

  14. I was so confused I thought it was meant to be read as A.D.S
    yeah none should be present.

  15. Homicidal_Pingu

Just saying if people bought licenses rather than keys for pennies then maybe they wouldn’t have to monetise it.

  16. oldmoldycake

Come join us on Linux! Now if only devs made their games for us..

  17. jtmackay

Ads are fine if the OS is free. However that is not the case.

  18. whirlwindforthewin

2% hoping there are porn ads 🤣

  19. Massive_Elk_2613

I’m on win10 after trying 11 last year. If MS doesn’t get their shit together, 10 will be my last windows OS. I already have Linux on one of my laptops
